New Game+ and factions

Post » Thu Jun 13, 2013 7:44 pm

From the wording of recent interviews, it seems that New Game+ and ++ will force you to play as the other factions. I am only interested in playing an argonian character. Anyone think that you can repeat the same faction for the New Game+, or want to do the same? I would probably get around to playing all the factions eventually, but I want my Ebonheart argonians to have a chance at the best loot drops, which will invariably come in New Game ++ and I certainly don't want to wait until I have cleared the other two factions so that I can start my argonian in New game ++

You're not 'forced' to do anything.

You can just finish ALL the PvE in your area or go to Cyrodiil, or do anything else...

Also, you don't need to change race, your Argonian would just be in the different faction zone. Paul Sage a while back said there's "something about seeing the world through other peoples eyes".

Are you sure about the race thing? From everything I have read, the faction zones are restricted to the races that inhabit them. If what you are saying is correct, that is great news.

Yes he is sure. It's confirmed. But before you get the wrong idea. You will visit an independent instance of the opposite faction areas, where only you and the same people from your own faction will be present. You won't be able to enter the same instance used by the opposite faction members. Or to put it simply, you will never encounter any other member of an opposite faction while playing in an opposite faction area.

The functionality is just to allow you experience the other faction PvE content when you reach level 50.

I believe they did revise on their approach to players exploring the other factions' territories. Not being able to visit said places did in fact change, it's not known at 50+, and 50++.

I don't think there's any solid proof you see those other areas through other people's eyes.

So, are you implying that we can play as an Argonian and belong to a completely different faction? Or does the faction still apply restrictions?

I think what is being said is that you can keep your race and character through the various playthroughs and faction zones, but you always belong to the race's faction (ie argonian is always ebonheart, High Elves are always Aldmeri, etc.)

At the start of the game, you can only stay within your faction or Cyrodiil. This means that Argonians, Dunmer, and Nords can only go to locations within the Ebonheart Pact, while Bretons, Khajiit, Altmer, Bosmer, Orcs, and Redguards will only be able to access content within their respective factions (or Cyrodiil). Once someone from let's say the Aldmeri Dominion reaches level 50, they can then go to Ebonheart territory and go through that content. However, that person will only be able to see other people from the Aldmeri Dominion and not anyone in the Ebonheart Pact. Then, once they are done there, they can go to the Daggerfall Covenant territory and do content there. They will still be unable to see anyone that is not from the Aldmeri Dominion.

Too clarify things, you can't just go into the 50+(+) content as soon as you turn level 50 (as many people seem to think) you have to finish your factions story-line before the next content (50+) is unlocked.

Well, where once I was concerned, it turns out things are far better than I anticipated. Hopefully, they will implement quests in the other faction zones where you are undermining the rival faction in their own lands. I know all the PVP content is in Cyrodiil, but there is some serious potential in infiltrating the other faction's lands.
