Yard Sale Hunting

Post » Sun Jun 16, 2013 12:23 pm

Anyone find something of interest while hunting at a yard/garage sale? For me, it's really tricky since you have people that are professional hunters. They go from place to place, pick stuff up, clean it up, and then jack up the price on the item. Thankfully, i've found some good sales from time to time.

Got a large ceramic ostrich egg at one yard sale, costing me $.50, and scored a weird Coors bottle that has a deformation it in for a similar price. The Coors bottle is probably a defect that is sold as an oddity in the factory's gift shop. Still, it's a rather interesting piece that I managed to nab.

Just a few weeks ago I bought the board game https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HeroQuest in very good condition for just a couple of bucks, and then sold my old board game for 10 times more on Ebay

I got an old CFL monitor for free once. My grandma likes those sales and brought me along to help carry stuff and offered to buy it for me, but she didn't have enough cash so they just gave it to us.

Though I would have paid with my own money had I found that out before we left. :pinch:

I'm in the antique business so yeah, I know a thing or two or twenty.

Not my website, but a great way to find advertised yard sales, moving sales, tag sales and estate sales.

Found a $50 old, old wakeboard that I turned into a wakeskate, if anyone even knows what that is.
