Where will the majority of ESO players be found?

Post » Mon Jun 17, 2013 12:47 am

Ever since Zenimax announced that ESO would be available on the next generation consoles, I've been furious. My biggest concern is where will all the players be. I want to be where the majority of the people are going to be playing, to get the big battles and join in group activities. Now, since the game will be available on consoles, will people not play on PC any more, and will the community be split up?

I know this may be a silly thing to ask, but I do care about the amount of people playing on my platform, and I'm sure others agree.

What do you guys think? Is this really a concern for PC players?

This whole "consoles will splinter the community" thing makes no sense to me, its like the one complaint I keep seeing about the multiplatform thing that has no real validity in my eyes. There's going to be very little community splintering in a community that was like 90% not going to be playing any game with each other anyway.

I know you dislike me because im a sonsole user but id like to reply anyway. I think you wont be losing many people on the pc side. Heres why. People who were planning on playing it on pc will do just that, they may even be buying a ps4 or xbox1 but they will still play on pc. With that said there will be some lost to console. I know this because im one of them. I was planning on buying a pc just for this game. I was not that happy to leave my friends and clan on the playstation network. Once i found out i could play it on ps4 my jaw dropped. Saved a lot of money with the build i was going to build and i keep my friends and we can experience this together.

Im so happy i get to play. I hope everything runs smooth and you guys on the pc side dont get effected to much.

Most if not all avid MMO players will be on PC. I would say the a lot of people playing on consoles wouldn't have played it on the PC anyway. Maybe there will be less people but I just don't see it being a noticeable amount. Plus with the way the servers work to my understanding, there wont be empty servers either way so population shouldnt be an issue.

Ha, Metalpunks beat me too it. I agree with you man. Also i'm a console gamer as well for the most part except for MMO's , Civilization, and Total War. Nothing wrong with consoles in my eyes at least, but I will be playing on a PC personally. Mouse and Keyboard are OP in MMO's.

Edit: I should also add, just from forum lurking, it sounds like the consoles already have a decent amount of interest in it so if you chose to play on Xbox or PS, you should have no issues server pop wise.

If ESO released just like every other MMO on the PC before it, it had a better then average chance of being on the ever growing PC MMO scrap heap after a month. Like it or not, that's a fact. Now that they have correctly made the game for consoles also, it will have less than an average chance of being on that scrap heap. As far as population goes, I'd imagine that the PC will still retain the biggest share of players. One thing is for ceratin, Zenimax arguably tripled or quadrupled their sales by choosing multi platforms. I have seen a tonne of comments on 'general' gaming sites that have said they were pleased that ESO was on consoles as now they are going to buy it where before they weren't.

Xbox won at Defiance, I'd say 45% from Xbox, followed by PC and PS sold the least. I personally think Xbox is gonna be strongest, SteamBox might attract alot of attention too, basically SteamBox ownwers are gonna be the core of gamers, considering this is old-school IP, so its quite obvious. Consoles hits the mass mainstream [censored].

Ps4 will be strongest over xbox1. They got 80% of the vote at e3. Xbox1 got 12. Thats nuts. Almost everyone i know is switching to playstation frpm xbox. That no used game policy and always on internet connection blew up in their faces. That means no redbox, gamefly, used games at gamestop or even sharing with someone you meet. I dont do any of that but many many people do. Plus the fact your console you just spent five big ones on will not play even offline games if you have an internet outage. Anyway this isnt a console war thread lol.

I just have to say one more thing and that is after thinking about it. Eso as of a few days ago got a bunch and i mean a bunch of new players. Everyone should be thrilled about this. Think of it like this. Imagine how much more content they can release now because of the xbox1 and ps4. The money they will make will be out of this world.

Xbox version of Defiance was 8 weeks at top 100 at Amazon, PC appeared for shorl time, didnt see PS. Also Xbox community is most active at Defiance. General consensus seems to be Xbox sold the most.

The community will not be split up, why do people get so furious over such a pathetic reason?
