All I keep seeing is hate for the new console. I can understand it to a certain degree but some of the reasons people are giving it hate just seem silly to me.

So I'm curious, who is actually happy with the new console and plans to buy it upon release?

I for one will be one of the apparent few who will. As all these issues that people seem to be so outraged about really don't concern me.

-my Xbox is already always connected to the internet

-I don't play used games( game stops 2$ discount never seemed worth it to me) nor do i lend out my games

-the Kinect thing is silly but it's not like i need to spend extra cash on it, it comes with one. I'm sure i will get used to it.

-the design of it is large but other than that i find it to be quite appealing.

-after their, IMO, impressive showing at E3 i can see that they are still very focused on the gamer.

No. Absolutely everyone in the world hates the Xbox One. Not one in seven billion people like it or will buy it. Not even Microsoft employees.

I don't hate it as much as some people here, I think there is plenty wrong with it, too much for me to consider the positives to outweigh the negatives by my preferences. I won't be getting it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to complain about it every chance I get.

What's kind of funny about that is typing "Worst console ever" into Google gave me several results related to the Xbox One.

I feel neither here or there about it. I suppose that can translate to happiness; I'm not sure. But I've always been more the type to play on PC to begin with, despite owning a Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, and a Gamecube. All of those were purchased used, now that I think of it. I just got the 360 this week and while I like it, I still find myself using it as a backup, and I assume that's how I'd see this coming generation as well.

I dont "hate" it, but I am not buying it because of the restrictions they have placed upon it. Well I might one day in the distant future... But not anytime soon.

I think much of it has to do with the perceived attitude of MS, rather than the specific actions being taken. When a company starts requiring X, or blocking Y, the general rise in inflexibility can be disappointing even if the specific actions don't affect you.

However, while there are some tangible restrictions here, I think most of the problem right now is PR. I'll point out that Sony was hurting in the PR department for a while now (especially after the "out of focus" PS4 vid), but all was forgiven after their solid E3 performance. MS has stumbled twice with the XBox One (three if you include the name ), but they have plenty of time to recover. If these were going on sale next week Sony would be riding the positive buzz straight to the bank, but they're months away, which means both the Sony adoration and MS hate will mellow out.

And honestly, most of the core XBox crowd were going to buy this regardless. While I won't pretend Sony's good performance won't help them, I'm skeptical MS has actually lost many sales, or that Sony has gained many.

There's always the 'It's more expensive so it must be better' crowd to help Microsoft make some sales.

Good points all around. Pretty much my take on it in a more logical fashion. If anything I'll probably upgrade my computer before I consider buying either PS4 or XB1

The first two are selfish. If I had an Xbox it'd always be connected to the internet too, and I don't really buy used games either (but that's mainly because I play PC, and we have the perk of insanely good digital deals), but at the same time I could see how it'd affect a lot of people negatively. There are plenty of people who don't have reliable internet, and plenty of people that can't afford to buy every game they play at full price (not to mention consoles games are full price forever it seems). I use Steam, which follows both of those points, but I still think people have a right to choose what they want. Of course, I'm sure there are forums devoted to how bad Steam is too.

Console users do have a choice, they can choose PS4, though they will miss out on some exclusives and familiarity, and I'm sure that's the main reason people are mad. I'm sure some of them thought Xbox did a few things better than the PS3.

It seems more about pummelling the product and to a wider extent Microsoft when they're down to attempt to make sure they don't try to pull the same stunt in the future. If it were a choice between occasionally constructive (and fun to observe) rage or apathy that results in tighter restrictions further down the line I'd have to side with the pummelling. Games should be open for whoever wants to play them. Not constrained by arbitrary connection requirements, region locking and [censored] behaviour. Yes it's ridiculous that Sony are being lauded for simply doing what is sensible but I'm still glad they are behaving the way they are.

Microsoft as of late has made a lot of stumbles and really bad decisions beyond the XBox One (Cough! Windows 8! Cough!). And their arrogant and dismissive attitude toward customers complaining about these hasn't helped them in the least. A lot of what's driving the MS hate is, IMO, the feeling you get when a playground bully finally picks on the wrong person and gets his ass handed to him.

And to be fair, Sony has had its share of PR and bad business practices disasters in the past (the audio CD rootkit fiasco, the compromising of personal data on PSN). They eventually recovered from that, and MS will eventually recover from it's recent flops as well. The wheel always turns.

I'm not going to get a Xbox One, or even consider it, but I really don't get all the hate associated with it. Yes, their PR team is a disaster, but looking at it subjectively, it's not half as bad as Microsoft makes it sound.

I will get the Xbox one after I get my ps4, but I will mostly use it for it TV features and the few exclusives that got my attention. But beside that Xbox one is becoming flop to the gaming community and many people are getting on the Sony train and going for ps4.

I wouldn't have gotten the X-Bone anyway, but I do think they could have done things differently. They certainly seem to have alienated a significant portion of loyal Xbox fans.

i agree, although I think it will be profitable for them because a lot of people are going to have no idea what features it comes with that they are buying. I especially feel sorry for those who get it as a gift but end up not being able to use it.

Well simply put, yes. People are happy with it. Just debatedthis earlier today with someone who was very informed about the Xbox One. They still liked it.

Why?

Because it basically boils down to it being an elitist console. It is banking on its online features and if you don't have online well screw you! Live in a region locked country? You are not profitable or are not worth the hassle so screw you! Want used games? They will make you jump through ten hoops before you can even consider it so screw you! But it does have interesting features, but it seems to come at a cost I don't want to bother with.

If you think you are not paying for the Kinect you are delusional. They included it in there for a reason. They charge you for it, you are paying for it and its features. They seem to want to force the developers hands so they use the Kinect and 'push the envelope'. Which is all well in good I suppose except I have not liked the Kinect at all so far.

If you don't mind ALWAYS being online, not getting used games and are in a region that Microsoft supports well hey, not much of a problem.

Someone was telling me that the PS4 and Xbox One somehow have almost identical graphical capabilities. Is there any truth to this for you tech experts out there? I hear the GDDR 3 and GDDR 5 basically are comparable because one sends a smaller amount of information more often and the other sends more information less often or something like that. They also seemto have identical processing power too?

Anyone want to elaborate on that? I was under the impression that the Xbox One was about 20% less powerful than the PS4.

I can't help but laugh personally. I remember people who were diehard XBox fans were pointing and laughing at the PS3 hailing it as the worst console ever, yet they seem stumped why people hate the XBox One.

I don't waste time hating an intimate object, it can't hate me back so there's no fun. But I definitely won't ever be purchasing one.
