I sold my PS3 and Xbox 360 to fully pay my PS4 pre-order with BF4. I was actulally somewhat board with 360 and PS3 and hadn't bought a full $60 game since Skyrim in 2011. I'm currently gameless (just iOS) until PS4 shps in November. Anyone else?

No. Don't like abandoning my old games. I still have a perfectly working PS2 and an entire library for both it and the PS1 that I regularly dabble into. And I don't ever buy new consoles at release. I wait for the prices to drop, the hardware to get more dependable, and for better games to get released. That can take at least a year to happen.

I'm think about doing that if demand is high enough and drives up second hand price enough. I'll only do that if I can double my money and sell for like $800.

No way. I have too many games on older systems that I love, I would never sell them.

I wouldn't buy a console on launch day anyway.

Huh? Selling old consoles? Never! The only time I had to part with a console was when my old NES finally died, despite my (previously successful) soldering iron interventions. I mean since most consoles do not have any backwards compatibility, there's no reason to sell the old ones. Well, except if you are absolutely sure that you do not want to re-play the old games. It might take many years before a proper emulator (for the PC) comes around and you would still need the games.

Nope. I hardly ever trade in games unless they are games I hate and know someone else(mainly my nephew) won't want to play when in my room. I collect games, too, so selling them makes no sense for me unless it is a game I hate or have a second copy of. I also like to be prepared for times when a game may not work on my PS3 and is a PS1 game. In those cases, it may work better on my PS2.

Why sell old consoles? Some of my best gaming memories were with my PS2, and if I did sell my old consoles for a PS4, then I wouldn't have every PlayStation!

But really, I always like to replay old consoles, and selling them removes the possibility to do so. So no.

I try to hang on to my systems unless I really need money for something, other then that I rarely sell my current system for next gen systems.

When the only backwards compatibility is to use an older system, I keep them.

That would be like selling my kidney to replace a lung.
