Technical & Formatting help

Hey guys, I'm in need of some technical and formatting expertise regarding uploading videos to YouTube. I'm only just experimenting with a few videos I've recorded recently but I'm having a variety of problems concerning upload times and quality sacrificing.
So far I have limited these videos to around 10 mins each so not very long, recorded using Fraps and edited in Windows Live Movie Maket, converted them to MP4 so they can be uploaded to YouTube but here is the problem, in order to maintain the original high quality it takes around 300 minutes(!) to upload a 10 min video which is ridiculous! I searched around and found various ways to reduce file sizes and resolutions, followed some of this advice and the upload times were reduced to around 1 hour, which is better. However the quality was terrible, small screen and blurry picture.
My Internet connection is fine as I'm aware, I live in the UK and have BT broadband fibre optic connection it's very fast, anyone out there know how to get around these silly upload times whilst still keeping high quality videos? Perhaps some software that converts into a different type of file? Thank you so much for reading ! ..

What size are the finished files you are attempting to upload ? what resolution and FPS are they filmed in and what resolution and FPS are you uploading them in ? ( the larger the resolution and greater number of FPS the larger the file will be) - What is the upload speed of your internet connection ( some lines are very fast on the download but slow at upload speed (ie. my Uverse connection is 18Mbs download and only 1.5MBbs upload so uploading things takes quite a bit longer than downloading) -

Figure the upload time will depend on the speed of your connection and the speed of the youtube server you are uploading to ( The file can only be sent as fast as your connection can send and the server on the other end can receive) - the size of the file being uploaded - so without knowing any of those variables it is near impossible to tell you what might be slowing things down or whether you are getting the speed you should be.
