Steam Summer Sale games to get

Post » Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:12 pm

Since the Summer Sale is rumored to be upon us soon I thought I'd ask the forums for some recommendations. And this can go for everyone as well who wants to ask.

I really enjoy stealth, RPGs, Indies, some open world games, and games with a great story. I'm not saying that they have to be all of those genres in one, of course :]

Huge fan of the Thief series, Metal Gear Solid, Morrowind, Hotline Miami, Red Dead Redemption, Deus Ex, To the Moon, The Walking Dead, Zelda, Hitman, The Witcher 1, Limbo, HalfLife, Max Payne, etc.

So what would you guys recommend?

Do you have the Portal series?

I got both Portal and Portal 2 last year during the Summer Sale for $14.99 (IIRC), and I am glad I did! You say you like games with a good story, and Portal 2 is just that

I'm hoping to find Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite cheap. I also wouldn't mind Assassins Creed III. Other than that I'll probably splurge on some indie games.

Portal 2 is too long, and a lot of sections just involve wandering around looking for yet another white wall to teleport to. I prefer the first Portal for its bite-sized and more puzzle-oriented design.

Me too. Maybe Arkham City. I don't think I have that yet. It's so hard to keep track when I never play any of the things I buy.

I really love both Portal 1&2 as well as Dishonored. I'm not too big on Assassin's Creed anymore. I loved the first one when it came out, the second one blew it away to the point where the first one is unplayable for me anymore. And for Bioshock, I really like System Shock 2, but I couldn't stand Bioshock, I just felt like the whole game was one large fetch quest.

They incorporated more of a story into it this time around, to shed more light on who and what Aperture Science is/was.

Yeah, but Portal 2 was much more story based than the first game, which I really appreciate. I thought it was a great game, and I enjoyed it more than the first one. I agree that it had some tedious parts, but I can accept that, since I know that it tried to balance both story and puzzle, unlike the first one where the entire game for the most part was based on the puzzles themselves.

Eh, not really. Portal 2 is much more story based and has a lot of fun puzzles IMO.
