User Submitted Voice Acting

Just a thought.

To add an extra dimension to NPC characters, why not allow Elder Scrolls fans to submit their voice for use in the game?

Provide us with a short script of responses to read as well as instructions detailing rudimentary equipment necessary to produce useful sound bytes for you.

Sift through the submissions at your leisure - make use of the bytes from the good voice talent and shelf / discard the rest. Find a set of responses you like? Contact that fan for more script reading. All would be voluntary submission - no payment necessary. I'm sure there are a lot of likeminded RP'ers and other talented individuals that would jump at the chance to voice an NPC. I know I would.

If it works out, you've got a diverse collection of voice material for free and a new level of connection with your fan base. If it doesn't, you've got a lot of junk mail and an email account to delete.

ZeniMax has already said that you need to have a SAG card to even be able to do any voice acting in their game. So if you don't own a SAG card I'm sorry but that idea isn't going to work.

Edit: And for the people who don't know what SAG means: Screen Actor's Guild

It would be likely that 0.5% of the submissions would be acceptable. It would cost more to hire someone to filter through the submissions than it would be to hire a voice actor.

Voice actors are used for many reasons, they are reliable, they can often deliver more than one voice, and most importantly they are a part of the Screen Actors Guild.

Ok, I never said that you need a SAG card to be considered a good voice actor. I said that ZeniMax specifically said you can't do any kind of voice acting in their game without a SAG card. So I don't know where you got from my post that I said you need a SAG card to be considered a good voice actor.

You're being overly generous and optimistic.
