What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of monsters that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allows you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines.
The multiplayer is very similar to single-player, just with more people and chat. TeamSpeak has also been implemented for use on the servers. Use the default port to connect.

So should we get together a list of our plans for future maps? Do we want a temporary map until 1.7 or do we hope to upgrade a preexisting one?

1.7 is still a long ways off and no special plans should be necessary for it - when it comes about we can decide whether we want to do anything special (ie: region/chunk removal - removed regions would be regenerated with whatever new algorithms are present). We can plan for our next map to be permanent.

I'll note that I've backed up the plugins (minus Dynmap) only from TW, so I can restore things like permissions and mcMMO levels. I am rewriting the permissions to a new plugin which should allow for promoting players via console or ingame from an admin, potentially removing the need for a whitelist. Players logging in for the first time would be able to walk around and chat but nothing else until promoted.

Depending on how much land we find, perhaps the spawn continent could consist of holds, or those across an ocean from the main continent could be independent/ally nations or part of whatever Empire is established.

And if we establish an initial limit on exploration at about 10,000, or maybe more if we're doing large biomes. I think we all agree that having everyone go 70,000 out in multiple directions is no longer feasible with the VPS.

Think of it as the empire's laws against vagrancy and being out of Parish without lawful consent.
