Will xbox and ps4 be able to play without sub?

Post » Sun Jun 30, 2013 7:22 am

Normally with MMO games there is usually a subscription involved to keep the game running. What I don't understand though is how will this work if there is going to be a subscription? Platforms such as PS4 and the Xbox One will required the disk to play but how will they be charged with a subscription to play the game?

Are they going to allow people on xbox and ps4 to play for free?

Is there even going to be a subscription set to play the game?

So many questions I want to ask but won't be able to find out the answer for quite a long time!:(

If anyone knows anything or can help me that would be awesome!

We don't even know if the game is going to have a subscription fee in the first place. Also if PC players have to pay a subscription fee why should console players be catered to and allowed to play for free? There have been several games to come out for consoles that have required subscription fees (FF XI and DCUO). Yeah you guys might be paying $20 a month to be able to play the game but $5 of those dollars isn't just solely used to pay for the game, but so you can do other things on the PSN and Xbox Live.

This is probably me being stupid or just focusing on the payment but how will that effect subscription for the consoles? Like World of Warcraft you'd set up an account with the company and set up a payment method and then your off and they can take the money out of your bank. With say the xbox I don't see how that would work. Yes you might be able to create an account using a home computer but how would it blend in with playing it on a console.

We don't know if there will be a subscription or not yet (I think there will be, personally), but rest assured if there is then the consoles will also be paying it. Zenimax doesn't care if you have to pay another fee ontop of your chosen platform, they get none of that money.

Also other cross/multi-platform MMOs that have been on PC/console and had a subscription fee still have a subscription on the console. Best example: Final Fantasy XI is on PC, xbox 360 and PS2(PS3 also?), and costs the standard 14.99 a month on all of them. Even the new PC/PS3 MMO FFXIV will have a subscription on PC and PS3.

How is it any different? You will create an account and set up payment arrangements. Then you log in to your account and play the game. Stop paying and that account goes dormant. Why would it matter whether you are on a pc or a console?

I also agree that there will be a subscription. I'm starting to get a better understanding on the payment etc so thank you!

Also apparently it's being released on the 31st of December 2013 but I'm not sure if this is true or not due to the fact they haven't announced an official date yet.

Remove the spaces in the link (Not aloud to post links apparently)

That's called a place holder date, ie the store just puts it there to avoid a blank or instead of UNKNOWN.

That was all speculation on gaming stores so people can pre-order. The official release has been pushed back to Spring 2014
