Do you want a gladiatorial competitive PVP arena?

How does everyone feel about having a gladiatorial competitive PVP arena in ESO? The scale of battles could range from one vs one, to four vs four with a rank structure for players with the most amount of kills, least amount of defeats, ect. These would be short 5-15 minute fights that would take place in an actual small arena with other players observing the fights as they happen, with the possibility of being able to place bets on the outcome. Players would be matched according to their rank and desired type of match and would also have no knowledge of who they are to fight before hand, nor would they be able to communicate with them or anyone else outside of their team during the fight. Basically it would be the arena fights from Oblivion, but with other players. Nothing complicated.

Spoils for the players participating in the fight would simply be a percentage of the bets placed on the match as well as whatever amount of money the other players put down to join the fight. Winner takes all sort of thing. Titles would also be awarded... and lost depending on gladiatorial rankings.

Also, upon defeat you are prevented from fighting again for a week, so as not to overcrowd the novice ranks.

Players of the same guild would also not be allowed to fight one another, though they can be on the same team of course.

P.S. To further obscure the possibility of players intentionally throwing fights for money, not only will they be randomly matched according to match preferrences and rank with no advance knowledge of who they will fight before hand, but player's names on one team would not be visible to the other team and vice versa.

I voted yes, but only on the caveat that the only spoils would be strictly bragging rights type things. WoW arena is a sickening example of how to not do it, not because of how Blizzard designed it, but because of how we, the players, bastardized it and turned it into total [censored].

The Oblivion arena would be magnificent.

Also, gambling would be cool, but I have zero (ZERO) faith in it not being easily exploited. People are gonna throw matches. [censored] will get silly. (I still voted yes for some reason, probably because I like the idea even if I know it wouldn't work in an MMO)

I voted don't care. Never really did arenas in WoW, that wasn't the type of PvP that I was ever interested in. I prefer larger battles (open world PvP or BGs).

I voted no on betting, because I can see many ways that people could abuse it to make a ton of money. You have a friend bet against you because you will throw the fight and then he splits the earnings with you. If there was a good way to counter this then I would accept gambling, but I don't see any feasible way that ZeniMax would be able to stop it from happening.

Another game I played for a long time had a quest that you would go on to race a bunch of other questors through a giant maze for awesome rewards, and onlookers could place bets on it through the system. Needles to say a group decided to all sign up, with another few people betting all on one guy, and they all let that guy win. Big time profit was made, hell was unleashed by the gamemasters upon figuring out what happened. Big time fiasco.

Yeah, that's why I don't really like gambling in online games because of the abuse that comes along with it. If the developers of a game were to somehow come up with a good way to combat it and not allow it then I'm all for gambling in games. But, if there is nothing in place to prevent it I would rather they never add it.

Its been asked alot, hell it was asked alot in Rift too.. I think they should do it, if nothing else just for marketting purpose, lots lots of people buy the game if they knew it was there. Im very satisfied with Cyrodil, it seems to offer alot of diverse PVP content. My suggestion was actually Gladiator NPC guild, whos the best of the best of Tamriel. People can join if they want or dont.

As long as its like the Oblivion one and doesn't de-evolve into a wow-clone e-sport, yes.
