Ubisoft hacked

Post » Wed Jul 03, 2013 6:49 am

Just checked my email and noticed something in the spam folder apparently from Ubisoft urging me to change my password due to someone hacking them and getting emails and passwords and stuff (No credit card info or anything though).

It looks fishy but apparently it's legit since I googled it and gameinformer is reporting it so yeah, if you have an account with Ubisoft you should change your password. Just a heads up in case people trash the email thinking it's a scam or something.

Here's the email:

Please note, if anyone ever sends you an email or a note asking you to change something like a password, never use the links in the email to do this. Always approach the webpage from your browser by typing in the URL that you know if for the webpage. If it is legitimate, the home page for the site should mention something about this aspect. Or, google or yahoo for news before you give any information to a website to change a password.

^^^^^^^^^^ This!

Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER use the links provided in emails that are sent to you if you didn't specifically ask/request for it. Go through the official website if you are truly concerned. I received this email as well, and it could easily be a smokescreen where people did hack into Ubisoft, accessed email address, and then sent out a real alert but has a fake url in it.

Dammit, I have to change all my passwords because of an account I haven't used in like 2 years.

Ubisoft DOES have a notice about this on their website by the way.

Now's your chance to make a new password for each site. You really shouldn't have the same password across all of your accounts.

Agreed, but this was legit and i had no choice but to change my password with an email sent, Ubisoft wouldn't allow it any other way.

I certainly have more secure passwords for personal accounts, but there's other forums that I used to use and I'll have to go into those old accounts and fix the problem. I had forgotten I had an Ubisoft account.

That's strange. I could have sworn I signed up for Uplay through one of their games and it seems I have yet to receive any sort of email.

To this day I am happy I still did not create a Ubisoft account or uPlay account :P. I really wish Ubisoft would get rid of uPlay it pisses me off the all of the new video games published by Ubisoft that are released on Steam have both uPlay and Steam tied to them double Digital Rights Management (DRM) is bad. I have not purchased any video games published by Ubisoft since 2010.
