would a game like this be intresting?

so i was thinking, just for the hell of it, making a fps (or first person) village building type game, i know it doesnt sound that exciting, but i was watching some person show off a mideval themed unity tech demo and it got me thinking, would it be possible to make a first person village/empire management game and the game be intresting and fun?

Village or empire? A first person Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing could be interesting, but managing an empire from the first person sounds confusing and kind of pointless. If you can't see your empire in a big ol' political map, then what's the point, really? I can't imagine any interesting gameplay aside from perhaps something like Crusader Kings that would make it fun, but still you're very limited by the first person perspective, and I'd imagine most of the player's time would be spent running around to different people, which doesn't sound fun to me. If, on the other hand, you're still controlling everything from a political map, why even have the first person element?

The zoom feature in https://www.google.com/search?q=empire+earth&newwindow=1&safe=off&biw=1141&bih=594&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=8fbUUdr6MIzO8wTL0YCwDQ&ved=0CEQQsAQ came close to that, but didn't quite give you true first-person. I don't know if I'd want to get that close in a building game.

Hrm....intresting, what about if, you began with a map, just showing your current territories, like villages, forts, and castles, and as it grew progressively bigger, you could teleport from settlement to settlement, or if first person isnt your thing, a third person, sim city like perspective would be avalible for people who are into that kind of thing

Of course, OP. As long as if they implement the fp mechanic good. Just look at Dark Messiah, though different from the topic at hand, they implemented fp combat almost to perfection, no other game since(which is remarkable)hasn't achieved successfully fp combat the way DM did.

Sounds kind of like a more in depth version of the stronghold building in Morrowind. I'd love a game like that, I was actually kind of dissapointed you didn't get to manage a village in The Walking Dead.

The same studio made Dishonored. Having played both and DM both before and after playing Dishonored. I have to say Dishonored is MUCH better at FP combat.

Dishonored 2 is going to be an intriguing game I think.

There are people who have played Dishonered and say it wasn't as exciting and groundbreaking as Dark Messiah fp combat.

Certain things it did much better and others it didn't. It certainly has better swordplay imo. DM has a greater variety of weapons and armor though. It had bigger scope imo and layed most of the foundation for Dishonored. Dishonored is more polished and geared towards stealth.

It might just be a preference in setting. DM was an action RPG, Dishonored wasn't.
