Elder Scrolls Online, Shouts....?

Post » Thu Jul 04, 2013 9:22 am

Hey everyone, I've been wondering lately, are shouts going to be available in the ESO? I mean, first of all they're awesome and secondly they're mentioned in Skyrim, where the ancient Nords had voices that can shatter an enemy's soul. I think it would be a great addition to the game because everyone (I'm sure) loved shouts in Skyrim, especially Fus Ro Dah. If they're not included in the game, I think it quite a number of people would be disappointed. If they are, maybe only the Nords can use it since there is no DovahKiin during the time of Molag Bal. And not all shouts from Skyrim would be available to them because they're not as powerful as the Dragonborn. That's all there is for this thread, see you again next time, thank you.

No, the Thu'um will not be available in this game.

Edit: The Thu'um isn't just something that everyone in the world can do. It would be awful if millions of people in the game world would be able to use it.

Someone didn't pay attention to what the Greybeards had to say!

Nope, like Lep said, no Thu'um. I wouldn't be surprised if some basic primal shout skill showed up later on in the game's lifespan, but as of right now the devs are taking a hard stance on the ability to speak dragontongue being a lost art in this time period. Also, no dragons.

It still took a whole lot of time to master.

If they aren't dragonborn, they can do it after years of study. Remember what Arngeir says about how they learn a shout? If it takes years to get "Fus" down pat, I don't think everyone would be running around Shouting. The only reason that it is possible for the Dragonborn to use Shouts is because they are dragonborn. It isn't the talent to Shout that is rare, it is being able to take a dragon's soul and use it to learn instantly what it takes the Graybeards years to learn by studying.
