A character that fits almost every guildfaction

Post » Fri Jul 05, 2013 9:07 am

Hi all,

It's been awhile since I posted something here.
I bought Skyrim just recently and now I'm having a hard time making a character that seems to belong to almost every guild or faction. I've been playing a Khajiit thief/assassin but I can only see him joining the Thieves Guild and The Dark Brotherhood since he seems out of place if he joined the Imperial Legion or the Mages Guild.
Do any of you have a suggestion for a character?

Thanks!

This is a problem I have frequently. I usually go for a Thief Class, maybe a dark elf that's specialized in Illusion, Destruction, etc. Usually the best idea for an all around character, seeing a The Companions and Civil War questlines can be finished rather easily with these skills. Rather irritating to try being some big, brolic battlemage sneaking around picking people's pockets.

he could join the college of winterhold to study magic and use illusion for his thieving and assassinating.

just so you know. you dont have to join the legion, you can join the stormcloaks if you want. a Khajiit would probably avoid the war or join the legion.

a good excuse to join the war. stormcloaks/legion did something bad to your character.

be creative and give your character a backstory.

I understand what you're saying but for me it doesn't make sense being a Stormcloak and a Blades member.

Tough thing to do mostly because I can't think of a character who can fit both Companions and TG/DB.
Why?
Because Companions are all about honour in fight and apporach it directly while DB does the exact opposite (and TG tends to avoid it completely).

The most guilds I was able to join without making a mess of RPing is Bards College, College of Winterhold and TG/DB (officialy an Arch-Mage of CoW who likes art, but secetrly is a crime boss - there is more to it, but that is it in a nutshell).

He suffers from multiple personality disorder. Its kind of a cop out, and im not even sure if thats how the disorder even works, but hey. If there's no rational reason one character would do all of the quest lines, then all you can really do is make your character mad and irrational.

If you want my honest opinion though, there's really no need to rush. I would just play quest-lines that are appropriate to the character I made from the start.

He could do certain guild that suit him and then he may want to stop being a criminal and do good things for Skyrim instead.

It's hard to think of a character that fits into every single archetype in some manner.

Closest I got was a Knight/Paladin/City Guard like woman who only did the Thieves Guild because she was blackmailed into it.

She destroyed the DB though.

Well now, the prime choice I'm able to come up with is the Khajiiti being an honour bound Nightblade:

Destruction, One-handed, Block, Sneak, Light Armour, Restoration.

A double agent of the Thalmor that is working to consolidate prevalence in Skyrim for the Empire?

Not entirely sure, but you'd have to do the Dark Brotherhood questline after the Imperial Legion one.

Membership of the Companions lends an aura of respectability and honour, which is the perfect cover for a criminal career. A pompous baboon who is secretly the greatest crook in Skyrim.

Makes perfect sense to me. Goods, I would hate him with a burning passion.
