An odd question

Post » Fri Jul 12, 2013 7:40 pm

So, I've noticed recently that I have trouble moderating how much I drink(not alcohol) dependent upon the vehicle it is given to me in. If I am given a can of soda to drink with a meal, I will make that can last the entire meal. If I'm given a glass with the can's contents poured into it, the glass will be emptied halfway through and I'll need a refill. If I'm given an entire 2 liter bottle, I'll drink a full third to half of the bottle in one sitting(dependent upon size of meal). If I'm given a bottle of water, the bottle of water will last the entire meal. It's a very odd thing, and I'm not exactly sure why it works out that way. Does anyone else have this issue?

I'm the opposite. I make a glass last the whole meal because it's easy to see how much is left and moderate how fast I drink. Not so easy with a can.

I drink liquids in various forms. I started buying 1.5L Diet Mountain Dew and I notice that once I started drinking those I began to consume WAY more liquids than I should be (in the form of soda). If I have a can I can consume 2-3 cans now instead of being content with just one. If I'm at a restaurant I find that if I have a straw I consume my liquid at a much faster rate. So, yea, my liquid consuming is somewhat confusing as well. :P

I notice the same thing. If I have a bottle of soda I just take a small sip every once in a while and then close the cap, but I finish off a can in a minute or two. I'll drink a glass of water/soda even faster, because there's no opening to limit the amount I can drink per gulp.

Weight. I weigh the can (By holding it, not with a scale XD) and try to keep something in the can as long as possible, because if I feel something in the can, I know I have something to drink. My sips get smaller, but I always have something.

For me, if I can see my cop is empty, then I cue that to mean I need to get more. If I can't see how much is left, my mind tries to portion it based off the feeling of weight.

Ya know, I think that may explain me and my ability to make a can last longer. I can't see the liquid, but if I know there is still some in there, I try to make it last longer. with a glass, it's likely that I see "Oh, there's only a gulp left, lets finish that and then get a refill and start over".

I never worry about it unless I need to ration, then I ration appropriately. Sometimes I'll kill whatever I'm drinking in mere seconds, damn it I was thirsty! Other times I won't finish it and slowly drink it.

The only thing I don't drink fast ever is scotch. Drinking scotch fast is like trying to finish having six before you even get in bed with the girl.

Uhh, not sure I particularly understand that remark ^^ The only way I can take it is the implication that I'm pregnant, but drinking a lot isn't particularly a sign of being pregnant, and my profile clearly indicates me as a guy ^^

I was referring to where you said "lets" as if there were more than one entity inside of your body or consciousness that you were partaking of the beverage with.

Oh. ROFL. I often refer to myself in the third person. Odd quirk of mine that I've had since I was like 15 or so and I started to do it to annoy a friend.
