Weapons and Weapons Skills

So one of my favorite things about The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind was that there were multiple different weapon skills to choose from. Short blade, long blade, two-handed, polearm, etc.
When Oblivion and Skyrim came out I was extremely disappointed that they dumbed it down to simple categories of two-hand and one-hand skills. Not to mention they removed Polearms from the game entirely.
I think they they should bring back more in depth skills with weapons instead of just tossing them into two lumped categories. There should be individual skills for short blades, long blades, daggers, axes, maces, two handed swords, two handed maces, two-handed axes, polearms, bows and throwing weapons should all be a separate skills. Oh.. AND PLEASE BRING BACK THE POLEARM! :)

I don't see having them split into small, medium, large, etc. as a bad thing, but the simplicity of Onehanded and Twohanded isn't terrible. I can go either way on this one happily.

edit: I'm actually far more interested in different damage types. A onehanded weapon can be the same whether its a dagger or a sword, but it needs to be different whether its a dagger or a mace. Blunt/slicing/piercing are important imho.

Eh yes please, More is better in this case unless it's to the extent of drowning in options and not knowing which was was up (D&D Online, I'm looking at you) but I doubt that would happen with ESO.

For some reason they enjoy getting rid of stuff that makes TES the TES so don't count on it though. Most likely they dumbed it down even more and we'll only have options for short range, long range and magic and that will be it.
