The Brigmore Witches speculations

Hey, now when the time of the reveal is near, I think, that we should speculate on what we’ll see in the second part of Daud’s story! Actually, we should’ve started earlier, but there’s still some time.

I’m dead tired from my job, and it seems to me that there’s not much details to predict the plot, so I could think of only two ways:

The first one is connected strongly with the main story. If we take into account the poem in the room with the Delilah’s statue, it is possible that the witches want to enslave Emily, and Daud will stop them and, in a way, redeem himself before the new empress. Also that’d be sort of a lesson for those who killed him in the main game. This theory is not mine, but I’ve read such interpretations a number of times. (By the way there’re nice fanfics about witches controlling Jessamin.) This variant seems plausible, because Delilah is already messing with Dunwall’s higher society, and there’s certainly something special about Kaldwin women, at least the main plot is about them.

The second one is that the main conflict between Daud and witches is not connected with the main story. It’s something from Daud’s past. We know that his group and the Brigmore coven were allies once, but then something caused a schism. From Timsh’s sister story it is clear that the witches have some grudge for Daud, but it is unclear why they’ve decided to act at this time. Actually in this variant Daud could also save Emily, but it wouldn’t be his main agenda. I’d like Daud to have his own separate conflict, but I don’t know how a new complicated intrigue could fit into a DLC.

Also it would be strange if the Overseers let the whole thing slip, and didn’t try to end the Daud’s band. The group of Overseer’s that we saw and caught/killed in TKoD was only the first one, the more impatient, but others were coming.

So what do you think?

Will we save Emily, or some other issues between witches and assassins will be the center of plot?

Will we meet Rinaldo or maybe Billie again? (I, personally, would like to get more interaction with the Whalers.)

Will we fight with Overseers?

Why, do you think, the witches hold grudge against Daud?

Do you want to meet or see characters from the main game? I’d like to meet at least Granny Rags.

What locations would you like to see? I’d like to get in the suburbs (I imagine that the Brigmore manor must be somewhere near Dunwall, but outside of the city), ruins of the previous civilization. It would be nice to ride, at least for a bit, one of the cool whalepunk vehicles (a train perhaps?). But these locations are unlikely.

And there’s the issue of multiple choices with Daud in the main game. What’s your opinion: will we get one predetermined ending, will Daud be spared or killed by Corvo based on the chaos level, or will we get some open ending? Also what’s the chance that our saves will be relevant? I think that an open ending would be better, but I half expect the chaos determined one.

And then what do you expect gameplay-wise?

It would be nice to get new powers. What would you like? I’d like tethering for lore reasons, other than that I’ll be happy to experiment with anything Arkane would give us. And what about new weapons?

What I would really like to see is more places to use the new Blink. It’s so much fun to jump from somewhere and then stop in mid-air and teleport where you want! I liked how the factory was sometimes kind of a puzzle. I’d like more of such complicated levels, where you should think for a while to just get to the other side. And I’d appreciate if more roofs were guarded.

I liked how the alternative choices (not direct killing, I mean) were not always low chaos, as in the main game. I’d like more different choices with the targets.

Also more Granny Rags recipes, please!

And it would be nice if the summoned assassins stuck with Daud if not in fight for longer periods. And you could actually give them some commands.

And I’d like the DLC to be longer. Like 10 missions, or so. But that’s my wishful thinking.

So, let’s speculate! Any ideas are welcome.

I understand that Arkane have already completed the game, but still it’s nice to round up our expectations.

Wish they'd hurry up with releasing it already..

I dont think we will get new powers, dont see a point to it. all of daud's powers and upgrades were available from the start of the DLC, dont think they held anything back. i definitely want new locations. and about Daud's fate. i have no idea how they are gonna handle that. anyway im going to stick to my usual play style, high chaos.

This DLC has to be more than 3 missions, or ill be really disappointed and im pretty sure i wont be the only one. when i started the first one i thought id play about 5-6 missions, had no clue that its only 3 and one of them was set in an already discovered location. i expect BW to be at least 5 missions long.

It will be playable at Quakecon in the beginning of the august, but I think that they won't release it until the autumn season. The only hope is that they'll hurry to sell it before the main autumn triple-A games hit the shelves.

I'm fine with them taking their time though. This type of game design must take an awful lot of time.

Technically the main game is 8 missions long, so three more missions is not that little, but I am with you in wanting more in this DLC.
