Strange Reactions

Post » Tue Jul 16, 2013 11:35 am

Have you ever seen, read, heard, etcetera something that caused an emotional reaction that would not be the typical reaction to that, confused you, or otherwise just didn't seem right to be feeling on seeing, reading, hearing, etcetera it?

I'm having a strange emotional reaction to something as I'm typing this. It's confusing me, because I typically do not feel this particular emotion ever, so why is seeing a fan-made Pokémon drawing making me feel "fuzzy"? It's definitely not some kind of weird crush or something like that. I actually have no idea what this fuzzy feeling is. Guys, I'm seriously confused here! Don't judge me!

If someone could explain why sometimes an emotional reaction that does not make sense in the context or actual emotion conveyed in the drawing, article, speech, etcetera is felt, then please, share it. I'm seriously confused right now. :P

Clearly you like the picture.

Thinking too hard about it.

But I like a lot of pictures, and I'm sure they didn't invoke some alien emotion upon looking at them.

This is why I made this thread. Because I'm sure that other people had a "Why the [censored] am I feeling this right now?" moment, and they could share said WTF moment here. :)

But seriously, I can't be the only one that felt something completely differenf to what the picture, article, speech, etcetera intended me to feel, right? Smiling at gory pictures, disgusted at bright and happy movie scenes... Am I?

In Doctor Who when Vastra said she hunted down and ate Jack The Ripper it made me feel... Horrified.

I mean, in Doctor Who they never show gore but it can often be implied and this thing just struck me with horror.

Jack The Ripper was a bad man and one could say he got what he deserved but even so, she ate him.

Like, she actually cut the flesh off of a mans bones, carved out the parts she liked and then either cooked or ate it raw.

I make a lot of references towards cannibalism because it fascinates me how humans aren't special, in the end we're all just flesh.

But seeing it in this show, seeing this character we're supposed to consider to be good, seeing her make such a casual remark towards eating a person.

It just horrified me for some reason.

i sorta flipped out when my dog of ten years bit me. I felt betrayed, which is weird because he is just a dog, who i don't think is mentally capable of betrayal. (He was hurt and bit me when i was trying to clean a wound he had) Actually thats not that strange i guess, i think i just humanized an animal too much...easy to do when you've had a pet since childhood.

I was so mad i was going to kill him, but after a trip to the doctors i couldn't bring myself to do it. Also refused to have him put down to test for rabies. Its weird that at the end of the day that i view a dog as one of my favorite friends. The dog is also fine btw, knew the little bastard didn't have rabies and only attacked me out of some self defense reaction. Also let me clean out the wounds and put antibiotic cream on it everyday after that

Wounded animals (even pets) will always snap as a way of telling you "I'm hurt leave me the !@#? alone". Try not to take it personally.
