Tablet Help

So, for my daughters 10th birthday, we decided to buy her a tablet. Nothing expensive or anything, just something that she could play angry birds and a few other games on that she's played on some of her friends tablets. This is what we got her: http://www.walmart.com/ip/HKC-7-Tablet-Dual-Core-Processor-with-8GB-Memory-and-Google-Mobile-Services/23709327

After reading the specs over many times, I am officially kind of lost. It says that it has 8gb of storage, 5 of it being cloud. But we've reached just about 1gb of space(we've downloaded a LOT of games for her), and now it's saying that it's running out of space. What gives? Can someone more tech-savvy explain to me wth is going on here? Am I misreading something?

Uhg. You made a mistake getting a cheapo Chinese knock-off KIRF tablet.

8 GB - 5 Fake GB - 2 System GB (OS) = 1 GB

Those cheapo tablets do lots of scary things. One of my coworkers, despite my warning, bought a cheapo KIRF tablet from China off of ebay. It had this weird buzzy/clicky sound and eventually caught fire while charging.

Ahh. Oh well, that's the way the cookie wall crumbles. We honestly didn't have the money for anything name brand, and this still serves the purpose of letting her play games, guess she just can't get ALL the games she wants. Is there a way to extend the memory(SD card?). I'm totally ignorant of the ways of a tablet, I've never even owned a smart-phone or a Kindle before.

Yeah, you should be able to. Some apps won't work on SD cards, but most will. You'll insert the SD card then go into settings -> applications and select an app. There will be an option to move it to the SD card.

At the price point, it's pretty much guaranteed that the screen is a resistive screen. You'll need to do the occasional recalibration of the screen to keep it accurate. Also, eventually the battery was probably skimped on and will lose its ability to hold a charge, so don't leave it charging overnight/extended periods of time to try to make it last longer.

Thanks for the help man, it is much appreciated! I had a feeling you'd be the one to respond to this, you're like the resident know-it-all on all things Tech.
