Is anyone else disappointed with forced alliances?

It's not so much the alliances themselves that I find disappointing, it's that you are forced into a particular alliance based on what race you choose. This takes away some of the freedom that makes the Elder Scrolls games great and it's probably going to make playing with friends more difficult too. Plus I'm sure I'm not the only guy out there that wants to play a Wood Elf, without being forced into the Aldmeri Dominion.

I guess at this point I just hope I can still explore Morrowind and Hammerfell.

As I said to the OP of http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1466547-none-of-the-alliances-appeal/: Ignore the Alliance storyline as much as you possibly can. If you want to explore Morrowind and High Rock on your Bosmer, you'll be able to do that (peacefully even) after you hit level 50.

I accept it as a necessary aspect of making the game work, not to mention in general I love the us vs. them mentality that it creates. It will make PVP so much more interesting.

I don't see a problem with it.

Did you hate that you were forced into being the Nerevarine?

How about lamenting the fact that you were unfortunately the Dovahkiin or the Hero of Kvatch?

Its just how this game is going to go. People need to accept that and find ways to adapt how they want to play around it. Truth is we're not losing any freedom from it, anymore than we did in the older games by being stuck in the role of the hero.

That's too bad you have to wait until level 50, but I'm glad to hear you can indeed explore provinces not affiliated with your alliance. I was starting to get worried, because the game would be significantly worse if we were that limited.

Oh and I meant Hammerfell*, not High Rock. Dunno why I said High Rock. lol

It was first huge disappointed what hit to this game, but I think now, most of us are over it. We should be happy this is brand new ES game and we get more single playing games as well, dont worry about it.
