Mel Smith has died

Bummer. :(

For those of us who are of a certain age, Mel Smith, alongside Rowan Atkinson, Griff Rhys-Jones and Pamela Stephenson, was a staple part of TV viewing in the form of Not The Nine O'Clock News, and later with Griff, Alas Smith & Jones.

I'm really bummed to hear that: he was just 60.

Along with James Gandolfini, another one who went way before his time.

I saw that a while ago, yes I remember him well and used to watch the programs.

Sad news and relatively young age to die.

Didn't recognize the name, but as soon as I saw his face I knew it immediately from many British TV shows and movies.

Just saw it on a news website. Had to do a double take. Sad news indeed - 60 is too young.
