open world non consensual pvp

Post » Tue Jul 23, 2013 10:38 pm

First of all i'm a big fan of Elder Scrolls series but i have a problem with where ESO is going , so this is my humble opinion

ESO really begs for open world non consensual pvp , that way it would be really in spirit of what Elder Scroll games are.

Open world non consensual pvp has it's problem in a form of griefing and a lot of people don't want to be forced into PvP but how about this idea:

Make all of the Tamriel a Battle Zone not just Cyrodiil with option on capturing the villages/castles/towns with exception on Faction starting towns.

Make Tamriel huge (as you already plan to) but with no fast travel/teleport of any way.You die you respawn in your main faction town.

Yes traveling from your town where you respawned back in the fight if its on the other side of the continent will be a game breaking for hopefully not a lot of people (elder scroll games were always about exploration and traveling anyway  ) but on the other side it will make your adrenalin pump harder if you are far away from your home.

Reason for this is that new players NPCing in their faction zone will hardly encounter enemy players because of the hardship for enemy to even get there in the first place alive and it would put griefing to minimum.

Now i don't know if this big non instanced world is even possible with todays technology and i'm sure you will find a lot of problem with this type of game, so your opinion please  ?

In other words, you want to go round striking down new players just for the privilige of feeling good about you l337 skills?

At least that seems to be the number one reason for people wanting open world PvP,

And they aren't going to make such a massive change at this point anyway.

Why is it that you never see one of these guys posting in an existing thread? They all seem to think they are the first to come up with the idea.....

Having PvP outside of Cyrodiil will detract from the actual PvP happening there. I get it, I do. I want open world PvP also, but I see where they're coming from and their logic is solid, so I fully support it. Cyrodiil is going to be a great and happening spot. And if nothing else, atleast you know you'll always be able to find a fight there, rather than having to patrol the entire game looking for someone to fight.

What means No without the damnit then? Is that where the confusion comes in? Yes means No, and No means No, damnit?

Yeah non consensual open world pvp is a game breaker to me. Nothing worse than roaming around trying complete quests when a group of idiots shows up and does nothing but try to kill you over and over and over.

:D

Funny (sort of) how this comes up in a thread about a "non-consensual" activity.

But all you have to do is get better at playing. With just a little effort, I'm sure you could get to the point where you could kill 4 or 5 attackers even when ambushed. Besides, it would be more fun that actually getting to accomplish your goals. But sure go ahead, be selfish and don't consider the needs of others who just want to kill people like you kill rats.

Yeesh some people....

I honestly have no problem with Open World PvP. I played on an OWPVP server in WoW and I enjoyed ganking people and thoroughly hated it when I was ganked. But I understand that they want PvP to be centered around Cyrodiil. If you have OWPVP I don't see Cyrodiil being as active as they envision it.

I SAID NO!

So a year from now and my altmer is running around Skyrim pretending he's all pre 4th era Thalmor and sees some other random Nord pretending she's all the female reincarnation of Ysgramor with this stupid battleaxe wannabe, I can't just kill them randomly on the road sacrificing their blood in the name of Auriel?

....not that I've thought about that or anything....

Except your Altmer will never see a Nord player while adventuring in Skyrim.

You will only see enemy players in Cyrodiil. No matter what other zone you go to in the game, the only place you will see enemy players is in Cyrodiil. Sure you will see Nord NPCs while in Skyrim, but not actual players.

While I'm not totally for open world PvP, I do agree that PvP should be possible in all areas. Just make provinces raidable, and all raids are to be organized by only people in a particular faction with no aligning of another faction.

Of course this is my solution to the over-saturation of guilds, especially ones that become inactive...their guild halls should be able to be raided, looted, and destroyed. And not just in ESO.
