Classes in The Elder Scrolls Online?

Post » Sat Jul 27, 2013 10:01 am

Hey guys! I was talking about TESO with my friend and he said he saw a video of different classes (archer, warrior, mage, etc) on Youtube. I played Skyrim and oblivion and I know that it wasn't like that before.

So I was wondering if there will be a class system or just the same skill tree for everyone (the one from skyrim was really amazing) ?

Well, you start by choosing class, Theres 8 of them. Then theres 3 path for each class, exclusive to that class only, no other class can use those, then theres alot of universal abilities what everyone can choose, thats if you unlock them first.

Shortly, Classes has own strenghts and then you can choose additional skills from a pool of abilities.

Thank you for the reply! I think it's better like that. The game will be more balanced.

I guess Bethesda is really focusing on the classic RPG style. I personally have big hopes for the factions in this game.

There are 4 classes, not 8, and allegedly it's pretty freeform

Yeah, its pretty damn good if you start to think about it.. theres RPG, then players can switch to different role if for example tank is leaving, whole team doesnt need to leave, not to mention, you arent stuck to your skill tree forever and get bored.

From the news I have been hearing there are four classes as of now: Dragon Knight, Templar, Sorcerer, and Nightblade . . . there is a fifth one that hasn't been announced yet supposedly.

I started playing Oblivion again a few weeks ago and it was cool how many classes there were to choose from and the ability to make your own class . . .

I believe in ESO it will be freeform for classes, but not quite so freeform as in Oblivion. Each class will have it's own specific skill tree so being a dragon knight will give you some skills that a sorcerer doesn't have and vice versa. :D

Nope there is no fifth. The fifth was going to be the Warden but it was scrapped when they changed the class system to make it more freeform.

They are not really classes, more like special skill lines that will help newer players to the Elder Scrolls games. A mage can still wear heavy armour and swing a two handed ax if he/she so choose, or stealth around the battle field casting spells. Its just that a mage will be better at magic than a Nightblade or Dragon Knight.
