Nightblades over time

Post » Thu Aug 01, 2013 3:10 pm

Something has been bothering me a bit.

That something is, one role always seems to draw the attention of a whole gang of sub-standard players, which results in that role becomming undervalued/ignored when serious people are looking for a group.

The most blatant example I can think of would be DPS in DCUO, sure that's a bit different because the people who didn't know how to play their role tended to pick it. Back on topic.

I worry that given the 30x boost possible on Skyrim, Nightblade is going to be swamped with unimpressive characters to the point people will pass over the character once they realise it's a nightblade.

"Need 1 for task/dungeon x"

"Nightblade here."

"... Need 1 for task/dungeon x. No nb"

Or something similar.

Thoughts?

Well since class doesn't define your role in this game, I don't see this being an issue. I could be a healing Nightblade and not DPS or a tanking Templar.

So I don't think this is something people will have to worry about in this game.

Yeah, people won't really be asking for your template class because there'll be such a variety of different builds. They'll be asking if you can heal, not if you're a templar. Or if you can tank, not if you're a dragon knight.

Yeah, I understand that. My issue is that because a stealthy player in Skyrim could get such a massive damage boost (I mean it's usually a one hit KO) even though we aren't likely to see such an OP technique in ESO that nightblades will attract the unworthy, leading people to skip over a nightblade, whether he's stealth, healing or whatever focused just to be on the safer side of drawing a reliable team mate.

You will get some people like that. That's why it's good to just find a good guild to run with. PUGs are the worse in MMOs, especially today. I haven't ran with a PUG in the last few years when I was playing WoW.

That's really the best way to combat this problem. Find a great guild to roll with and you won't ever have to worry about what "class" you are since guilds usually run with anyone.

I'm on your forums, I'm leaving my application for the time being, not sure why, applying months and months in advance doesn't sit well with me for reasons unknown o.O

I think people assuming that no one will care what class you are might be in for a sad realization. If past MMO's are any indication, the player base will create restrictions and structure even if the game doesn't.

That being said, I doubt there will be any major backlash against any particular class. If you're a skilled player you will be able to find yourself into a good guild eventually.
