To find out, Rolling Stone asked a panel of writers, industry figures and artists – from Lars Ulrich of Metallica to Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes – to vote on their favorite live performers right now. To be eligible for the list, a performer must have toured within the last five years and not announced their retirement.

Rolling Stone lists are usually really outdated, predictable, or way off target... But this one seems pretty decent, even if it ignores many genres.

Tool would be higher for me though. Best live show I ever saw.
And I'm surprised there's no David Bowie, or Godspeed You Black Emperor.

Glad Rage Against the Machine made it in the top ten. As well as Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age getting a place. I think Foo Fighters should have placed a lot higher though. Especially because of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97FdrPGfYb8&feature=player_embedded.
