Chairs...

Post » Sat Aug 03, 2013 10:33 am

So it has been said that players will NOT be able to sit in chairs or climb ladders. I personally think that's silly. Sitting in chairs is a rudimentary feature to the majority of MMO's I've played, as well as past ES games. Why leave it out of this one? I don't accept the excuse of "technical difficulty". It's not a hard thing to code.

Or he meant "Should players characters be able to interact with chairs and ladders and NOT svck in the game world?" :icecream:

It never was said that They "cant" interact with chairs and objects. They actually never gave an answer at all on this . But with the extensive emote list im sure there is a way to.

I've never sat in a chair in any game, ever, to my recollection.

Meh

just so you know, if they changed it so that you can sit in chairs, they would have to go to every chair in the game and change it from a static item into a dynamic item which takes time. though I do agree that it can be done and that they should change this, they do have a reason not to.

Yeah, I don't think they'd have to metaphorically walk to each chair individually and tag it as interactive - the chair types would be listed in the database and each click should take care of hundreds.

The more interactions available in the world the more real everything will feel. I don't RP but, whatever floats your duck.

That would be cool.

I think ESO will be the first MMO to have the feeling of a good single player game (at least somewhat), and things like this are just icing on the cake. :P

I talked about this in Issue one of http://www.tesoelite.com/2013/05/immersive-details-sit-ubu/. Something as simple as sitting in a chair is often over looked in MMOs. It is small but can drastically change the way we view/play the game

It would be really nice. I'd love to play musical chairs.

It adds to the RPG experience, so yes of course...also wouldn't mind seeing a /eat or /drink emote to go with it like we see NPC's do in the ESO games.

Its amazing how something as simple as sitting down in a chair can make or break immersion.

I think phrases/words like 'necessary' and 'a must' should be taken within the context of the game. Technically, ESO in itself is not a necessity to live...so by that standard, chairs and chat bubbles are also not necessary; however, I do believe that we should translate 'necessary' into something more like 'an important feature'.

So yeah, I think being able to sit is an important feature for roleplayers.
