thats not morrowind ...

in a video I found --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWXjzLEGV9U

Paul Sage (who I believe is narrating this video) -- (it is possible that I am incorrect on his name as it is not mentioned in the video description)

Paul claims that we are looking at an area in Morrowind, during this ESO presentation, and I quote- @ 01:16 of the video --

"if you are familiar with the game Morrowind, then you might see some recognizable landscape and features in what we are about to show you .. we are about to show you, hehe , ... and it's a area called Dishan."

perhaps I am not able to translate what he claims is a town or area name very well, due to my trouble in translation, because many times he is naming things outside of normal terms for example: he calls the "Guar" a gwore where it is pronounced -- Gwaaar-- altho I am English and he is speaking in English, it is still a bit hard to understand for sure the exact name he is saying, but it appiers he is saying "D'ishan" and from looking at the area in the video, as well as this map here --> http://www.imperial-library.info/content/vvardenfell-map-official it is very clear and obvious that there is no such area named "Dishan" I could be wrong and perhaps he is saying "Mzahnch" which is clearly a possibility. none the less, I have spent many years even up untill present day in Morrowind and have never seen anything like what is shown in the video. if perhaps I am wrong (and I very well could be) then I am asking some one here to please point out my mistake, and direct me on the right understanding and location of this "Dishan" place that is suppose to be in Morrowind.

From what I am seeing in that video as to the landscape and area and the way it looks I will tell you "That is Not Morrowind" I will take into consideration that this is taking place a long long time before the days of Morrowind that we have seen in the singleplayer game but I still must point out that area is definitely not Morrowind.

it is clear to me now why there has been no presentation of the mmo they are making because they obviously have no idea what they are doing and it is very possible that they have -- not even one of them -- ever played Morrowind single player game ....

Ya I think the problem here is that you are looking only at a map of Vvardenfell. Vvardenfell is an island in the middle of Morrowind. Dishan is on mainland Morrowind in the North West Corner.

See this map. It's Deshaan, at the South East part of the map

Edit... South East, not South West... :bonk:

The color palette is certainly different than it was in Morrowind. Otherwise, I found it recognizable enough to certain landscapes that it felt familiar. I'm happy we will be able to explore past Vvardenfell.

Yeah, Deshaan is a good way from the big Volcano so it should have a different looking landscape.

Morrowind the game just took place on the island of Vvardenfell, which is only a small part of Morrowind.

The major part of Morrowind -which also includes Mournhold- essentially surrounds the island on thress sides.

you meant to say "North East" as tought in trig my teacher allays told us to look to the first and turn to the last. but any way yes I see this now but my statement still holds true that the video is not in morrowind at all as he claims in the video presentation

Like I already said, of course the landscape is different because Deshaan isn't so close to the big ass volcano in the middle of Vvardenfell.

How is that place not apart of Morrowind? You know there is more to Morrowind than Vvardenfall right? There is a mainland to it, and that's where this place is. Just because it wasn't apart of the game doesn't mean people can't be familiar to it. What he meant by familiar is that people are just familiar with the setting of Morrowind, and this place will still have that sort of setting to it.

The game Morrowind was sent on the island of Vvardenfell. At the time of TESO, Vvardenfell is a preserve of the Tribunal Temple, and not many settlers or travellers can access it. TESO is 800 years before the time of the game Morrowind.

Di'shan is most likely on the mainland of Morrowind, probably in House Dres territory. Considering you don't seem to know that Morrowind comprises a mainland and the island Vvardenfell, perhaps you shouldn't attack the devs, because I could equally speculate that you haven't played Morrowind.

A map,for your convienience (Morrowind is top right):

Except it clearly is apart of Morrowind. I don't know why you can't look at these maps people keep posting to you and realize that it is apart of the mainland Morrowind.

It is in Morrowind. Look at this map http://www.tes.altervista.org/mappagigante.jpg

The cities are a bit out of place but Deshan is most certainly part of Morrowind.

Vvardenfell has a unique appearance in both structures and landscape as it pretty much all volcanic.

He is referring to Morrowind the place, not Morrowind the game.

There are even areas on Vvardenfell that looked similiar to this in Morrowind.

It does come across as though he's implying that Deshan was in the original Morrowind game... but that's just how he worded the presentation to get Morrowind fans excited.

But Deshan most certainly is in the province of Morrowind, just not on Vvardenfell.

Very true. The area shown looks a lot like Vvardenfell.

Ya I actually love that there is an active Volcano on mainland Morrowind as well. Watching that video, and exploring in some ash storms, is going to give me some major nostalgia.

Apparently there are a lot of active volcanos in the Velothi mountains now, which seems reasonable considering their proximity to red mountain and the volcanic tundra in eastern Skyrim.

Well, Morrowind the game took place in a large island which was in the Morriwind province, but that Island isn't the only part of Morrowind. There -is- a mainland, that's where they were in that video, the mainland, not the Island from the game Morrowind.
