Missing Opportunity

Seeing as how Everquest Next was announced and will be rolling out beta invites as well as editing tools this fall, its only going to hurt this game if they don't begin handing out more beta invites. Once people start exploring everquest and wow 5.4 patch comes out, buzz about ESO will continuously drop. They need to get more people into this game soon especially before EQN sends out invites.

And? Competition between MMOs is needed, otherwise you get what WoW has finally become. EQN might take away a few of the MMO players and people looking for a sandbox MMO. But I know some TES fans will be pushed away from it because of the cartoony graphics.

I know I'm not even going to touch the game because it will be F2P and it's Landmark feature (it's basically like Neverwinters Foundry) requires you to pay for it and you sell the stuff you create to others to play it. Neverwinter (another F2P MMO) at least did all of this for free. Plus SOE is way too much into microtransactions so they are going to nickel and dime the [censored] out of it's players.

People are overreacting with EQN in my opinion.

They stated clearly that they are working on it for 2 Years now, BUT the first 6 Month they were only Concepting and Brainstorming, then 1 Year Prototyping to evaluate what idea to trash and what not. That leaves them with 6 Month into production now and so there is no way that they will be "rolling out" Beta Invites in masses this Year...... they will stay in "Alpha" until 2015, real beta and release maybe in 2016.

All we are seeing right now is Hype. all marketing strategies. the only results that matter are the ones that come 3-5 months after the game has launched.

I was mildly interested in EQN as a possible back-up in case TESO somehow crashed and burned but as soon as I saw the first screenshot I immediately erased it from my mind. Also the new info for TESO has convinced me that it will be a game I will greatly enjoy and stay with for a long time. EQN will serve a useful purpose in that it will siphon off many of the types of players that I would rather not play with.

EQN will be a F2P nickel and dime game and WoW is still old regardless of what patch they deploy.

Don't really see it having much effect beyond maybe removing the less interested and less constructive posters from the ESO community.

ESO will have launched and been out a while before EQN launches. If ESO gives us what they are saying and has the great Cyrodiil endgame that i think it will....... When EQN launches a good portion will leave to try it but i think most will come back after 30 days.

EQN looks "interesting" but Elder Scrolls has my soul trapped. Also the cartoony artstyle of EQN turned me off.

Balls.

I'll admit EQN has captured my interest. It's even possible I might end up playing that instead of ESO. I don't know yet.

But ESO is not going to suffer for not giving you a beta invite.

Beta is part PR exercise and they're going to get the most benefit out of that much closer to launch - not a year out.

What's important at this stage is not that they have a huge number of testers. What's important is that the testers they have are a representative group giving genuinely constructive feedback.

I'm not saying EQN will be better than ESO or vice versa, i'm excited for both. I'm saying that they need to keep interest flowing for this game especially in the wake of the EQN announcement as well as FF14 beta invites increasing rapidly. From gameplay videos this game is getting bad press so they need to let more people try it out for themselves.

The MMO market is getting crowded and Zenimax needs to play their strategy perfectly from beta till after launch.

Show us.

I regularly check google news for games I'm following, and have been that daily for ESO the past week given all the press.

I've seen not any bad press. It's all been glowing.
