How would you distribute the races in 3 alliances?

Post » Fri Aug 09, 2013 9:20 am

Right now, we have the three alliances and three races in each, conveniently located next to each other.

In some cases, this works well enough - e.g. the aldmeri dominion (though the khajiit might be a slightly iffy point there). In other cases, this is completely unbelievable (argonians side-by-side with dunmer side-by-side with nords? OH PLEASE...)

So, my question is this - assuming that we need 3 sides - but let's forget a bit about superficially convenient geography, let's consider history, lore, favouritism, etc - How would you divide the 9 races into 3 alliances? (No need to have 3-3-3 division, mind. Mix and match as you want! Heck, make one or two races fighting alongside molag baal entirely if you want!)

Altmer, Dunmer & Bosmer
- Would make the elf domination idea seem more legit

Argonian, Khajiit & Orcs
- The oppressed &/or underappreciated fight for power/respect

Nord, Redguard & Breton
- Last hope for humanity's freedom/well-being

Makes sense

Or the mixed version:

- Altmer, Argonian and Nord

- Dunmer, Khajiit and Redguard

- Bosmer, Orcs and Breton

But I'm afraid this wouldn't really work logistically... the Altmer and Bosmer have a shared border, but to get to the Dunmer you'd have to either cross Cyrodil or go through Argonian and Khajiit territory. Argonian and Khajiit have a shared border, but the Orcs are surrounded by enemies, and simply wouldn't be reachable. Nords, redguards and Bretons would work however.

So girly-men in one corner, furries in another, and normal humans in the third.

You don't have to share a border to fight a war together.

Having a stronghold in enemy territory does provide its advantages,

Not bordering your allies can also provide huge advantages for naval operations.

Shared borders are convenient but its not the biggest factor in forming alliances. God knows if the real world thought like that; we would go to war alongside Mexico & Canada every time.

Sounds about right :lmao:

Pretty sure the Altmer and Dunmer would never ally with each other. While they both think elves are better, they also pretty much hate each other.

But you wouldn't be able to form the alliance in the first place, especially for something like the Orismer, who are completely land-locked. Naval operations between the Bosmer/Altmer and the Dunmer would be nigh on impossible.

There are an assortment of methods to send messages through hostile territories animals, spies, those who are diplomatically immune, etc. Besides, they won't be aware of an alliance until its formed; unless espionage & military movements come into play but that's another story.

Difficult & time consuming, yes. Impossible? Not even close.
