ESO has the graphic style it has. After seeing EQN(wow) style graphics I will not touch that game. Cartoony graphics just svck ass. Its 2013, enough with the cartoon graphics.

Yes EQN sounds pretty good to me, until I saw some of the graphics which completely turned me off, hate those cartoon type. I'm really liking the look of ESO.

It's gameplay vs looks. I too like the ESO style. However, the features in EQN are pretty cool.

However, I have to wonder about their combat system.

Either way, ESO will be here for 2 years before EQN, so we will see what the future holds.

I'm not a fan of EQN's graphics either but they've stated that one of their goals is to make the game playable even on older computers. That was a major component of WOW's success. Needing to upgrade your computer to play a game effectively adds to the cost and that's a big barrier to enty.

Detracts somewhat from the game's appeal to me but is probably a smart business decision.

Cartoony graphics mean that it will player on older computers and it ages better than graphics that are more realistic. Yeah some people don't like them, but they aren't all that terrible. There is a reason why developers choose to use cartoony graphics over photo-realism.

ZOS has stated they want TESO to be able to be played on five year old rigs. Is EQN trying to go even older?

Probably.

WOW is almost 10 years old now and though finally in decline still has the lion's share of the MMO population in its paw. It's possible that many of those are playing on very old machines.

And it's not just a matter of real age. Lots of people will buy a computer not specifically for gaming, eg. cheap package deals that come with older graphics cards. That can effectively add a few more years to its age.

If only it was one game with the best of both: the art-style, lore, world and combat of ESO with the destructibility, dynamic AI, emergent events and player-control of EQN.

I don't think there is much comparison between the two. ESO is a much more mature game both in looks and control,

Having my character leaping up onto mountains and ledges just because you run in that direction is not cool. I don't like games that take control of your character while you sit there and watch. I was very impressed with the appearance of eso in the last footage. The world is AMAZING and it is a game where we take an active role in controlling our characters movement. They tired to show a bit of that with Nick's playing at Quakecon and you could see him working the keyboard/mouse pretty intensely. That really gets me into the game because I feel a lot more like that character is an extension of me and the world wraps around me. (immersion)
