If i remember correctly, in most Elder scrolls games everyone ends up with a battlemage, with good selfhealing and some stealth...

why wouldnt that happen TESO?

Big difference is that ES games are single player, ESO is not. In single player games, having a character that can do a bit of everything is beneficial.

However, it is usually a bit different in group environments, which tend to favour specialization.

Can't really judge this before trying the game, though. :)

Is it known whether we get enough skill points in the game to unlock and upgrade all skills?

ZOS claims you can play whatever you want... yeah, but with HUGE drawbacks. Battlemage = unviable.

I've never played a "battlemage" and most likely never will.

I've only played Morrowind on, but those games have all been designed to be played in that fashion.

Playing as eg. a pure mage has been difficult to impossible. Playing as a pure fighter means you miss out on a bit of extra damage and the benefit of enchants.

ESO has been designed differently. In fact we already know while you'll be free to make a "battlemage" build, that build can't be as strong in both melee and magic as non-hybrid builds.

Yes. That has been confirmed.

But you're also constrained by equipment. Different armour types have different penalties and bonuses. You also have a finite amount of points to distribute between health, stamina and magicka. This distribution can be respecced.

Last developer interview they said that these builds where very viable, because both Magic as weapon damage depend on the POWER stat... On top of that, you can min/max the 3 different armor types to build your toon as you want... seems actually very viable to me that way... I think the system promotes to build whatever you want, be it Battlemage or pure magic dealer.
