New Fantasy: missing something?

Post » Thu Aug 15, 2013 5:19 am

If there's something that isn't covered in the poll, what do you want to read more about in fantasy?

I have the skeleton of the story I want to write. Now I'm working on developing the meat of it. The story will be a tragedy.

I'm curious as to what you all might be looking for or find lacking in most new fantasy.

I'd personally love to see a high fantasy setting based on Croatian mediterranean architecture, Italian Rome-like theme has been beaten to death imo. But maybe that's because I'm slightly biased. :D :P

I'd like to see more interesting creatures and flora. And more races (though deviating from the typical elf, dwarf, gnome, etc.). Some romance is good, but erotica, no, not at all. Interesting to read about political and social issues as well.

Wasn't sure which to pick in terms of setting, so I picked Medieval Europe. Iron Age would be good to read about too, but I prefer Medieval Europe. And always go with a trilogy. :)

I have a buttload of awesome fantasy series ideas in my head, though my problem is I'll probably never write this. If anyone wants some of my ideas, feel free to PM me. :)
