subscription 2

Ran way over our post limit.

Do you think we should or should not have a monthly subscription? Why or why not and if not what would replace it?

On Facebook and Twitter I've noticed that many fans are outraged by the recent news that the game would have a monthly fee of $15 on top of the $64 plus the price of the console, the cost of internet, and gold or plus. As a long time fan of the series I fear their making a grave error in judgement and hope they change their minds before release. That way everyone that is at odds with this policy will come back. You are going to be one of the first MMO'S to be on consoles and you'll be competing with many others and most of them are in fact free to play games.

It is already confirmed there will be one. What is the point in this discussion?

Everyone complaining about the $15 per month subscription fee needs to look at the cost per hour(CPH) of entertainment, and realize that, based on average consumption, Netflix viewing has a CPH of $0.25. In order to achieve the same CPH with this subscription, you would only need to play 60 hours per month, or 2 hours per day, on average.

Even if you kept your playing time to 30 hours per month, your CPH would be only $0.50, which is less than just about every form of entertainment out there.

I rest my case.

One argument is, they should justify their price.

It's their product to sell as they see fit = justified.

One argument is, I don't want to pay it.

That is your choice. Nobody will force you to play.

One argument is, I can't afford it.

Sorry, but it's a luxury. Not everyone can afford luxury items.

One argument is, they are stealing from me with this P2P option.

No, you are choosing to buy the game with the contract of paying the monthly fee to play it. If this seems unfair, don't buy it.

One argument is, P2P will ruin the game.

If you want to believe that, all the evidence in the world won't change your mind. However, ZOS took a lot of time to decide this, and it is their risk to take.

One argument is, F2P/B2P is just as good an option, if not better.

Sorry, but ZOS disagrees. Again, there product, their plan.

One argument is, ESO will lose a lot of customers, if it is not F2P/B2P.

Well, apparently, they will only lose people not willing to put as much money into ESO as P2P customers. Also, they will be gaining customers as well. These customers will pay to play, so good for ZOS.

One argument is, ZOS will make less money with the P2P plan.

If you look at the math and still believe ZOS is loosing money with this plan, no argument is going to change your mind. However, ZOS did it's homework and feels this is the best plan for them.

I can't think of anything else. Have a nice day. :touched:
