PvP, slow- or fast-paced

Post » Fri Aug 23, 2013 11:31 am

I'm wondering how PvP combat is planned to be like in ESO. In my eyes, GW2 has a very slowly paced PvP system, while WoW is on the other side of the camp. I really despise the slow-paced implementation, so I'd like to know what to expect from ESO.

Do you share my sentiment, or would you prefer a combat system where it does take some time to kill a person? Give a short explanation to why you want one over the other, or explain how a good blend might look like.

Thanks in beforehand!

Just wondering, but how is GW2 slow? Burst damage in that game is lethal. I considered WoW PvP pretty slow unless you were fighting players with no pvp gear.

I love running thief in GW2, so it can be pretty fast paced and short fights. Being a glass cannon means you win hard or die easy.

That was how I experienced the game during the first few weeks I played it. It took a long amount of time to kill someone, especially in a 1-on-1 scenario. I can understand that you wouldn't want a rogue to kill you within five seconds, but I also don't want to have regular fights that become all about slow attrition. Either way we view the other two games, I hope ESO will have medium- to fast-paced combat in the grand scheme of things. What do you think about that?

I think the pace of PvP combat will be determined by how you build your character. There isn't some cheesy pvp stat in this game like resilience, so how durable you are depends on your armor type, and your skillbar.

I can see Nightblades using medium/light armor with most of their skills focusing on damage/cc being squishy but also capable of quick kills. Then you have heavy armored tanky templars who would take awhile to wear down. I think you will find pvp to be different paces depending on the player, but overall if I had to guess, I would say it will be medium.

How many points you put into health instead of stamina/magicka will also make a difference.

Resilience is a baseline stat now in WoW, everyone has 65% resil, it isn't on gear just slows down people with no gears death <_<. Gives people with less gear a fighting chance.

I for one like face paced twitch combat. I tried GW2 recently and unfortunately went back to wow. I just enjoy the pvp competition in the game... Been playing the game since vanilla and can't seem to get into other games even if the quality wow has gone down -_-
