My thoughts on Payment Schemes

First off, sorry to the mods if I missed an open topic on this.

Second, I'm not here to complain about any particular pricing scheme that has been supposibly decided on (personally, I don't think it's been exactly set in stone at this point). I just want to voice my opinion on what I'm willing to pay for.

I bought TES3: Morrowind three times - first at a garage sale, second from a retailler (Game of the Year Edition), third time off Steam after I lost my disks some place 'cause I got a good combo deal with Oblivion GOTY. Fallout 3 and New Vegas I each bought once off Steam. Skyrim, I've bought twice: once for myself and another time for a friend because I wanted to kill his free time (it's a strange friendship). I've bought DLC either with combo deals or separately. I'll probably buy my brother a copy of Skyrim for his birthday coming up.

Yes, I have no problem throwing my money at Bethesda (when I have it to throw).

So far, I'm liking what I see in TESO. I like it a lot. Enough that I would considering a subscription, and I'm not somebody who subscribes to MMOs. So here's what I'm willing to pay:

  • While I can't see myself paying $14.99 a month for the game, I would considering paying $59.99 for a six month stretch.
  • I'm not really into the Free2Play model. I've gotten as far as downloading the installer for D&D Online after it went Free to Play, but never pulled the trigger.
  • I am willing to pay $69.99 for a one-time fee (more if there is a nice art book collectors thingy), as well as subsiquint charges for major expansions/DLCs. For pricing and frequincy, see Skyrim DLC's original pricing and release dates. I'm fine with that level of pricing-for-content.
  • Please keep the nickle-and-dime micropayments crap down to a reasonable level. It's rare I spend money on that sort of thing, and it's a big turn-off (which is why I avoid F2P games). I know why you need to have them, but some companies end up going overboard.
    • Also, Guild War's buy-key-to-unlock-chest thing is bull. Please don't do that. I love TES having the lockpick mechanism.

If a dev in charge of pricing reads this, I hope they find it useful. Also, other forum members - please don't rant about mostly-rumored pricing schemes and such. We don't have details, mostly (I believe) because the details are still to be determined. Rather, it'd be nice to keep this thread focused on constructive critisism.
