The life span of a werewolf?

Post » Wed Aug 28, 2013 3:53 pm

I was thinking about it.

Because I think I want to make ''The Wolf King'' after I finished the Dawnguard questline with my Champion Of Auri-El.

The thing is, in roleplay he would be a wise and shady man, and also one of the strongest lycans there is. (Eventually, ofcourse.) Making him the so called ''Wolf King'', which means that he is considered a leader to majority of the werewolves in Skyrim. I came up with this idea because of the perk where you could summon other werewolves to aid you, which seems to give you some sort of alpha position.

However, to the question. Do you think that the curse would affect the lifespan of a werewolf? From my personal view, I'd say that supernatural creatures like lycans would be able to become older depending on their physical and spiritual strength, but I'd like to know what you guys think.

Their lifespan would be the same as a non werewolf... I think.

If I'm around a werewolf then it's life will be cut short.

Regardless of that, they do age, I am fully aware of that.

However, I still feel that a werewolf would have an increased lifespan. Not significantly like hundreds of years but maybe about 30 to 50 years longer?

I would assume that Lycanthropy would boost your immune system and the other defenses of the body, thus adding years to your life span. Kind of like what Wolverines mutant power does for him, but not to that extent or the extent that Underworld went, in the hundreds of years. At most I would say an extra hundred years tacked on to your natural life span of say around 80, maybe. Or perhaps as you said an extra 30-50 years

By the by.......

You always got them lycan rebels... :D

Eh, it's more of a title than an actual leadership.

Consider the guy to be more of a clan chief with a fancy name.

I don't think so. In the Companions quests, you get a lot of info about the curse, and such a thing is never said or implied.

If you think about it, it really shouldn't. A werewolf never have a good night of sleep. Farkas and Vilkas also say they feel relieved after they are cured, because the beast blood permanently clouds the mind and don't allow the body to relax.

:D

I'm still a lone wolf though

OT....

How are you going to handle the transformation as you age? Or through out your aging?

I did the same thing with my main werewolf, he was roughly 150ish, was a werewolf for 60 of those years ( or there and abouts ) BUT the longer he went without curing the more Lycanthropy stuck to him in the " early " years, eventually he could not be cured. And the more he used the gift the longer the transformations lasted for. Last going off he was on month 3-5 of straight werewolf, no changing back to an Orc.

I don't think that mental problems such as lack of sleep or clear thinking would affect a werewolf in a way it would affect somebody who isn't cursed. Atleast not the lifespan.

He would be roughly 30ish when he becomes a wolf, eventually he would grow an obsession for lycantrophy, viewing it as a ''tool for power''.

Ahh but what the Companions have isn't Lycanthropy, it's a curse or evil spell cast upon them by witches. Totally different then true Lycanthropy

If you were an elf then you'd easily live well over 200 years of age (orcs 110-130). If your playing a human then I'd suggest you get some wizard training otherwise you're bound for death no more than 40 years from now...

I think werewolf characters are very interesting, and I don't really care for a long life span.

Let the elves and the undead rot away and watch everyone die around them.

I recal him saying that his character was "old and wise". If my assumption is correct, and he is a Nord around Eourland's age, give or take five years, He won't be seeing the next century like you or I would. Darth turncoatius

Wise and shady. Not old. I mentioned him being significantly more experienced about Lycanthrophy when he's growing old. However, he's currently only in his 30's.

I would argue that he would in fact see the next century, read a couple posts up I said it would kind of be like Wolverine and his mutant power. But not to the same extent as wolverine :D

Ok my mistake, you have more like 70-80 years left on nirn then. That is if you are in fact a non-mage Nord, Imperial, or Redguard.

He's a Nord so yeah. I may want to train him in alteration (To get some sort of ''dark druid'' idea going on.) but I don't know if that would affect the lifespan.

It's that I haven't been able to read anything about the lifespan of lycans in ES lore, so I just wouldn't whether this supernatural trait would affect the lifespan or not.

And if not, well, dieing around the 100 wouldn't be bad either, especially for a werewolf.

Not at all, 70 years as a werewolf ( cause he's 30 now ) is pretty damn nice :D

What?

just think about it, Lycanthropy is supposed to boost your stamina/health in both human form and beast form. Just as vampires have buffs. Only thing is Beth " forgot " to add it or think on it. Now seeing how it's effecting your longevity one can surmise that this effect would as well lengthen the life span. Just as Wolverine's mutant healing power keeps him fresh :D

But not as instant and strong as Wolverine's ability.

If the Wolverine example isn't working for ya ( guess I'm the only nerd here  ) there's plenty of examples in the wild where creatures with " special " healing abilities also have longer life spawns. Sharks heal several times faster then humans and they live longer to boot :D
