Dragon attacks chicken

Post » Wed Aug 28, 2013 1:48 pm

This evening I spied a dragon while walking down the road near the Battle-Born farm outside of Whiterun. It was attacking some foe with a passion, spraying the hillside with fire. After I killed the dragon (which was easy since it wasn't paying attention to me) I ran up the hill to see what it had been attacking and found only a dead ... chicken.

But there is one they fear. In their tongue he's Rikmahkiin, ChickenBorn.

Are you sure the chicken wasn't collateral damage? Maybe there was sabre cat or bear around?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't collateral damage. I thought that would be the case so I did a thorough search, and there was nothing else.

Definitely not. I've seen too many dragons break off attacks on me or NPC's to go chicken-hunting.

Dragons love the taste of fried chicken. It's known TES lore.

Dragons are smart.

Chicken's eggs can be used to make resist magic potions. Killing off chickens means fewer eggs in the world. Fewer eggs means fewer magic resist potions.

Fewer magic resist potions means a smaller chance the dragonborn might be carrying magic resist potions.

So, in conclusion, the dragon is just thinking ahead.

Gosh! Dragons are smart, I never thought of the chicken-egg-resist-magic-potion relationship. Hmmm, they better go after all the other ingredients as well: bleeding crown, crimson Nirnroot, Hagraven claw, lavender, nirnroot, tundra cotton, void salts, and wisp wrappings. Whew! All this thinking ahead could really eat into a dragon's burn/terrorize time.

One day the tables will turn and the time of the chicken will dawn. They're related to dinosaurs afterall.

Meanwhile, huntsmen shout at wabbits on how they shall not prevail. Serious programming right there.
