Nintendo announces the "Nintendo 2DS"

I bet you are all like "lol, tgl, don't you mean 3DS? And you are a little slow with the news there!".

Well, I kinda wish I was:

Thoughts? I don't think it is a abomination or anything, just a really....odd marketing tactic I think?

I already have a 3ds XL and even if I had a choice I would still prefer the XL. It's a good cheaper alternative for people with problems with the 3d effect.

October 12 is the release date for this thing

I am guessing it will be a flop but only sell for people that collect or some odd thing

I don't know. For people who want a 3DS at a low price but don't care for the 3D features that sounds like a reasonable deal.

It does look a little odd though, I'd prefer to be able to fold it like the normal one.

Edit: Merged the two threads on the subject, sorry for any confusion. ;)

Are you a 6 year old with a mother who has concerns about what the 3D effect can do to your eyes?

Huh, it's not April 1st. I'm beginning to think that Nintendo's market research team is just a dog that wags its tail whenever it sees a new product.

Some kids would probably do that. I didn't bury my game boy in sand and I got it when I was 4.

The same people who came up with "Wii U", and it's attendant marketing?

My brother told me his son buried his DS or PSP in sand... whatever it was never worked again.

Unfortunately North American kids/parents are usually wholly too stupid.
