Anyway i have high hopes eso will be that game!
Hmm...
I don't know about "changing everything about the genre." I don't think people would like that anyway. A lot of the genre stapples, like any genre, are there for a reason.
However, I do think the game is bringing something fresh to the table. A lot of the standard TES features that have been imported, like the free form classes, the exploration/wandering based game play, the realistic art style, the action combat, true first person, and (a big one for me) an actually good sotry, will help this game feel different from your standard MMO.
What they need to do is keep the MMO features that help people feel comfortable and that are there because they make sense while being innovative enough to make players feel like this game offers a unique experience.
From what I've seen so far, they are doing it.
Flip it around for a minute though: they are also reviving old MMO features that people loved but are no longer found in the genre. The PvP system (like DAoCs) is what I'm thinking of here.
The only thing I am worried about is that they rely to heavily on the single player story content to keep the player wanting to login because no matter how long they think it is there will be players that burn through it 10X faster then anyone did in testing and if the only reason to login is the single player part it won't keep people paying subs for very long at all.
accept for the WoW part .. I tried WoW for about 2 hrs and just couldn't do it. I agree with you about gw2 it was same thing .. I tried it for a little while and just didn't like it
I agree.
However..there are 3 alliances worth of quests and story content, two of which are at super hard difficulties. There are the Mages and Fighters Guilds. There are at least 16 dungeons which also have a master dungeon version with adjustable difficulty. There is the mysterious "Adventure Zones" which now may be included at launch. We also know of three major expansions to expect right after launch: Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and crime system. And if they pump content out every 4-6 weeks, we might be seeing new land areas as well.
That's not even to mention the PvP, which is the number one thing that will keep me logging in. Competitive multiplayer (if done well) is huge for a game's long term success. I mean, look at how long people play online FPS games or RTS games. If ESO can offer that kind of high quality engaging competitive multiplayer, people will be hooked for years.
Lol. Same.
I tried the game at a friends house and absolutely hated it from the moment I touched it. Then he let me watch him play for a bit. I got very bored and we ended up playing Mortal Combat instead.
Hmm, no, Ive always preferred to try different kind of games, if ESO fails Im pretty sure I go back to Darkfall, but I cant see ESO failing.
