I don't think it was ever used, at least not for games. I'm pretty sure Sea Dogs from 2000 was the first game to have the Zenimax name and logo on it, and it was the same logo they still use today.

No,that logo was never used.

Even ZeniMax,s website back from 2000 had the same logo they use today.

That logo looks more like it ran away from an industrial rock band to me. Maybe some Nine Inch Nails side project. It kind of looks cool in that context.
