Roleplaying Question

So ive been trying to come up with the first character that i will make in ESO. I must have changed my mind about 15 times but i think i got it. So in short he is going to be a wood elf archer and an ancestor to my wood elf archer from Skyrim.

I plan to roleplay with this character, so ive been writing notes and brainstorming things such as his backround, personality, combat style, etc. When i started to come up with his religious beliefs i had to do some research on bosmer culter. I read the entire elder scrolls wiki page on bosmer and i got a lot of ideas for roleplaying.

My main question here is with my characters religious beliefs. While reading on the wiki i came across this thing called the Green Pact and ill quote from the page

" The Green Pact is an oath made by the Bosmer to Y'ffre, the forest deity, in return for his patronage. The pact dictates Bosmer cannot kill, injure, or eat any vegetation.

The known conditions of the Green Pact are as follows:
-Only meat-based products can be consumed.
-Prohibits the use of wood or other vegetable derivatives as building materials.
-Forbidden to harm trees and plant-life for their own betterment.
-Forbidden to smoke anything of a vegetable nature.
-Part of the Green Pact is the Meat Mandate that dictates that a fallen enemy must be eaten completely before three days pass."
This seems like pretty steep conditions but im sure that all you role players out there can attest to the fact that in roleplaying the religious beliefs of your character are a pretty big deal.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to incorporate the green pact into the game, or just any thoughts on the topic?

Did your Wood Elf in Skyrim make that oath?

I am not an expert, but I think that quote takes it a bit far. For example, Bosmer are known to be archers using wooden bows, yet that would imply harming trees for their own betterment. The way I understood it, they were unable to perform said activities PERSONALLY. So they could buy wood that had already been processed, and then build a bow. Also, I think the cannibalism is only for truly brave enemies or some such, not every single kill they make.

Also, do you have to be Ultra-Orthodox? Couldn't you be somewhat backslidden and thus munch on fruits and veggies that you "found" laying around non-Bosmer homes?

Or as nord-rage said, perhaps your character never actually took the oath. Perhaps your parents were agnostic, or followed a different religion.

Or just separate your RP from GP (game play). IE eat non-meat based food for buffs/healing etc when you need it, but never when you are hanging out in town etc.

No not Ultra Orthodox but i would like to follow it to some degree. there are other materials to build bows out of so i was planning on using bows made out of non organic materials or just using a wooden bow that i find.

I get it. I am a big RPer myself, but MMOs make it difficult most of the time to stick to a strict policy. In a SP game, if you run a sub-optimal build, then no one complains but you and you are having fun so it's all good!! :)

But if your guild or groupmates start griping that you are using a crappy bow that's 5 levels below you etc etc. I thing I've often done is carry some spare equipment to swap out for RP purposes. My lvl 80 Warlock carried around a lvl 30 sword simply because it looked awesome (a sword with black flames on the blade) and I would equip it whenever I didn't need my staff for blasting mobs to bits :) My paladin carried a shield that looked like a ship's wheel because it looked weird on his back and many people didn't know where to get it and mistook it for some rare uber gear....yes I am weird. :)
