.esm or .esp, what's better?

Hi again

Although I've finished my mod I'm still learning and I need your help again. I've release the mod as an .esp with the hopes that I could somehow use Steam, that wasn't the case and now I'm considering converting to .esm.

The .esp is only 8 mb in size but the mod is big (new lands mod, 430 mb), so, the question is, should I transform it into an .esm? Is there any advantages in doing it?

Many thanks.

I asked the same question some time back now. There are some advantages of going with .esm which is what I did, one is that there is a bug with placed items marked as respawn not respawning and the other that I know of is if you have a large memory hoging cell (inside cell) before you step out into tamriel you can cause a crash. An esm is supposed to address both these issues, in my case it was an easy enough choice my esm was about 1.4gb.

Of course I'm now much more cautious with an expansion esp on top of the esm in terms of navmesh editing.

Hope it helps.

Since my mod doesn't connect to Tamriel maybe I don't need to .esm it. My edit time is over 3.300 hours and my .esp is only 8 mb, how come your's so large? I'm curious! o.O

Thanks for feedback.

More opinions? Thanks!

It's a big player home dungeon with lots of custom objects, NPC's, Scripts, etc. There's no terrain editing but with 90mb of BSA that goes with it there's lots, don't even want to think of the hours I spent on it.

Interesting, because I have more than 500 scripts and lot's of sound, I'm guessing that meshes/textures is what makes the .esp/.esm big.

Yeah.... The hours... You're so right!

EDIT: I still would like to hear more opinions about the subject, thanks!
