Dishonored Changed my Gaming Taste !

Post » Wed Sep 04, 2013 7:24 am

So basically i didnt play like 15 runs of dishonored but i think this game has changed my gaming taste.

Now, whatever game i play,i feel like it should be an OPEN-WORLD game (just like dishonored). I don't find myself enjoying Direct-route games ( or whatever the word is for that situation )? Is this completely Natural ? I mean i want to play other games but i don't enjoy them much ( and i guess that is a good thing :D).

I am playing REMEMBER ME now a days and though Neo-Paris feels quite AWESOME, i miss Corvo and Daud too much in that game. Same goes to my feelings for Mirror's Egde i played in 2009 and... many other games i played in my life ( Except for Borderlands 1,2).

Does anyone else here has this Dishonored kinda Phobia or is it just me :@

Btw plz suggest some really open world and not so much old games since my Laptop is getting old (cant run skyrim on High Resolutions ) and i dont have any plans of getting a new one anytime soon (maybe in 2015 after my Electrical Engineering ) . So, any Suggestions :D

Oh and sorry if its gone some (or all ) off-topic related to "Dishonored General Discussion". Thanks :D

Deus Ex HR maybe?

I would also recommend Deus Ex 1, it's a terrific game and I really like it (but it's rather old).

I wouldn't really call Dishonored an outright "open-world" game, it has a high focus on freedom and whatnot, but it's still got a linear progression.

As for Dishonored-esqe games, Deus Ex and DE: Human Revolution are both excellent games with a similar structure. The first one is old, but if you can look past the graphics then it's a fantastic game. Human Revolution is also good, although it's not quite as deep as the first Deus Ex.

The Thief series is also quite similar, although it's much more open and larger than Dishonored. The first game (Thief: The Dark Project) is pretty rough, but has a fantastic atmosphere and a great story, very mysterious. The second (Thief II: The Metal Age) has the best level design in the series and is, IMHO, the best of the bunch. Thief Deadly Shadows is good, but it's much more restrictive than the older games. They've all dated a bit, but in terms of gameplay and atmosphere, they're absolute masterpieces.

System Shock 2 is a little different than Dishonored, but it has a similar action-RPG style to Deus Ex. Again, it's an old game (all my favs are the classics ) and it can get very challenging later on, but the game itself is brilliant.

Just to note these are all on PC, although you can get DE: HR on 360 and PS3.

Thief 1 can be found http://www.gog.com/game/thief_gold or http://store.steampowered.com/app/211600/.

Thief 2 http://www.gog.com/game/thief_2_the_metal_age or http://store.steampowered.com/app/211740/.

Thief Deadly Shadows http://www.gog.com/game/thief_3 or http://store.steampowered.com/app/6980/.

Deus Ex 1 http://www.gog.com/game/deus_ex or http://store.steampowered.com/app/6910/.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution http://store.steampowered.com/app/28050/.

Finally, System Shock 2 is http://www.gog.com/game/system_shock_2 or http://store.steampowered.com/app/238210/.

Hope this is useful .

The levels are pretty open, as in you have multiple approaches to any objective and there is reward for exploration, as opposed to trying to jump through hoops like a trained monkey and go from A to B in a straight line.

And, I agree OP, open world games have spoiled me for that other kind of game.

InDIGnation mentioned the good ones but figure I add these games to the list.

The first 4 Hitman games, which also have fairly open levels with different ways to solve them, http://store.steampowered.com/app/6860/ is the last good one.

I also recommend http://store.steampowered.com/app/2600/.

Aye, with "open world" the mind goes to the large game world games like TES and GTA. Dishonored is still split into levels, so "open level game" would be a better term I suppose.

Anyway, because this thread isn't really about Dishonored but games similiar in style, I'm moving it to Community Discussion.

I like the art style they go with, the kind of toonish but close to real they do with the character models.

I hope that makes sense.
