Concering the cash shop in ESO

Post » Mon Sep 09, 2013 3:18 am

My understanding is that there will be a minor sort of cash shop in ESO, with simple cosmetic items available for purchase, ranging from outfits to pets. I believe if a cash shop must be done, then it should be made so that there isn't a single item in the cash shop that you can't earn in-game with simple hard work. This way, the cash shop will be truly optional! If you want to lay down some cash instead of 'earning' whatever item you have your eye on, by all means... But for those of us that relish the ability to earn things, the cash shop should be optional.

Keep in mind before you comment or vote that this isn't a discussion on whether or not there should be a cash shop in the game. If there has to be a shop though, what kind of shop would you prefer it to be?

Paul Sage said it would only sell service things (name changes). No minipets or mounts will be sold.

Anyways to answer though I don't care if they did sell minipets mounts. As long as they dont sell gameplay items I don't care.

Voted I don't care.

I know what Paul Sage said and he made it clear there is no cash shop in the game. What they will sell how ever is account based such as character name changes transfers etc.

Agreed. Thankfully, Paul Sage has clarified that the so-called "cash shop" is actually just for account services, not in-game items cosmetic or not. I've said this before.... when I see someone wielding the FLAMING SWORD OF AWESOMENESS I want to know they earned it through gameplay, rather than plunked down $5.95 to buy one. Same deal with any cool outfit... it cheapens the actual game items and the achievement in-game associated with that.

I hate to burst people's bubbles, but I think it's inevitable that an itemized cash shop will eventually be implemented. Perhaps not on the outset, but given enough time... Don't get me wrong, I hate cash shops with a passion. I'm just trying to debate what kind of cash shop is preferable to have if there had to be one.
