I did something mean, and need to confess.

Okay. So I was getting tired of this troll on a forum (not this one) who would just do things like attack straw men constantly. Well, I made up a big post, and intentionally put in a couple sentences that were pretty flimsy similes, restating an opinion in a weird way.. As expected, he took the bait and spent two paragraphs ranting on that one minor part of what I said.

About an hour later, I edited my comment, and removed the sentences he tried to make a straw man out of. The result was his comment looking so completely insane that ridicule was wide spread.

Im not proud of what I did. Its really funny though. I also am just giddy about how well it worked. Im sure a mean person.

I think this goes against the ToS of the beth forums since you're talking about content and comments from another forum. In my opinion, trolls are trolls and get what they deserve. Trolls that are vicious deserve it most of all.

I too have a confession.

I took the last cookie from the jar. I was hungry and took it without asking. I have no regrets.

You were mean for taking advantage of him, but this is still a good lesson for other people that would lose their cool during an argument and resort to insults and other lame tactics to try and make themselves heard. I wouldn't be the one to do it, but if you're going to act like a [censored] during a discussion, you really don't deserve much in the way of respect anyway.

My heart bleeds for your unbearable guilt. That troll will never ride a horse again because of you.

I don't think we need a thread discussing the pros and cons of trolling.
There are enough experts of it here already.
