Dark Brotherhood and Morag Tong.

I have been thinking about this for a while now. Wondering why Bethesda and ZOS are or seem to be trying to write out/play down the Morag Tongs role in the Elder Scrolls series as a whole. Now I know some people like the Dark Brotherhood but I find them to be very comical and I honestly can not take them seriously as a guild of assassins. Their devotion to the Night Mother and Sithis is bordering on the near Monty Python side of comedy for me.

The Tong on the other hand has more mystery to it and seems a lot more deadly and effective in what it does. They do not rely on the whims of a skeleton or a single person called a Listener who could be compromised and put out his or her own death sentences as they see fit. The Tongs structure seems more robust than that of the Dark Brotherhood as well.

As a long time fan of the Dunmer race my thoughts on this maybe biased towards the Tong. but I hope that ZOS realize that in the time period of the game TESO the Morag Tong is a force to be feared and should be a playable faction in Morrowind as they did drive out the Dark Brotherhood and it would not be in keeping with the lore if ZOS put the Brotherhood inside of Morrowinds boarders instead of the Tong.

So would it be possible to have a choice between the Morag Tong and the Dark Brotherhood when their factions get released?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't take the Dark Brotherhood seriously..! I just don't find it appealing at all, just the name puts me off. It reminds me of a group of emo kids at college who took their emo culture waaaay too seriously and turned it into a cult.

Their gear looks poor too (from Skyrim, anyway), as such does the Thieves Guild armor, (Nightingale looked abysmal in design and overall look, it was awfully plain and lacking any flavour). But, I feel the same way for the Thieves Guild too in general, just no appeal for me in a group of people that go in barren-looking houses and steal expensive wine to sell in the sewers.

On-topic: Anyway, slightly off-topic, but I guess all you/others could do is hope the Morag Tong are featured when the DBhood comes in-game, but that may potentially mean that they'd have to implement the Dark Brotherhood equivalent for every race.

Not sure what the other races have or factions for that matter. As far as I am aware there are only two assassin guilds in Tamriel, are there more than two?

Well, if it is just the Morag Tong and Brotherhood then it would be slightly unfair for the Dunmer to have their own personalised guild.
I'm doubtful of it, to be honest. Sure, Dunmer get the Tribunal and all that, Argonian see the Hist, Khajiit see the Mane and so on, but I wouldn't expect large groups to make an appearance for one race only.

Potential is there. They could add the location specific factions to each alliance. Think of Companions and Buoyant Armigers for EP, Citadel of Ebonarm and Cursed Legion for DC (or any of knight orders), Renjira Krin for AD - boom, there goes variation of fighters guild for each alliance

The numerous temples associated knight orders are easy to implement, those have no faction allegiance but can serve as alternative to fighters guild

The monster hunters could be interesting, The Silver Hand, Order of Virtuous Blood, Dawnguard

The lore is so rich with factions, im sure ZOS wont have any trouble adding stuff

Letting us join new factions would be fun for TESO, but I doubt they'll change the established stuff too much (Fighter's, Mage's, etc).

When was the guilds act passed btw. I'm wondering if its realistic to have imperial guilds in game at this time. Also personally hoping for involvement in the story for the psyjic order
