In need of PC game suggestions

Post » Mon Sep 16, 2013 6:21 pm

Over the past few months I pretty much stopped playing my 360 and transitioned over to pc. I have a few games but I need some suggestions for games that will keep me busy for awhile. I mostly enjoy rpg's (Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls,Mass Effect, etc..)but I'm fine with a majority of other genres.

What I have

-KOTOR 2 (currently playing with the restored content mod)

-Skyrim all dlc

-Oblivion GOTY

-Morrowind GOTY

-Chivalry

-Metro 2033

-Star Wars Battlefront 2

What I was considering

-Dark Souls

-Civ 5

-Witcher 1 and 2

-Payday 2

-Shadowrun Returns

-Spec Ops:The Line

-XCOM: Enemy Unknown

If anyone could give any input it would be very helpful.

Payday 2 is really great and I would also suggest FNV just for the extremely highh quality mods for it.

I would purchase Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad if I was you it's a pretty good video game I would also hold off on purchasing Dark Souls because Namco Bandai Games and FromSoftware is patching out Games for Windows Live (GFWL) it has been seen in the Steam registry apps that they are going to patch Games for Windows Live (GFWL) out and will make Dark Souls on PC a bit more playable I will update you on Dark Souls progress if you want. The Witcher I would purchase and I would also purchase The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings those 2 are really fun RPG video games Shadowrun Returns also seems like it is really fun although I have not purchased Shadowrun Returns at all yet so I have no idea how much fun it is to play.

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are also fun video games to play so I would purchase those 2 as well if I was you and I would also purchase Total War: Rome II if you are into Real Time Strategy (RTS) video games people are saying Total War: Rome II is very fun but I don't know yet since I have not purchased that video game yet as well I love playing Real TIme Strategy (RTS) video games a lot though.

did you enjoy Dragon Age:Origins?

if so, hope over to http://www.gog.com/, and get "Neverwinter Nights 2"..

DA:O was in all honesty a rip-off of the third act of NWN2

Spoiler
you rename the Arch Demon "The King of Shadows", and you have act three of NWN2

NWN2 has greater character Customization, a much longer Campaign, just as much if not more replay Value, and some of the best "Choices and Consequences" in any RPG (actions you make in the first few hours of gameplay can have major and surprising effects on what can happen 20 hours later)...

NWN2 is by far the best game out there for D&D fans..

and if you don't mind Old School Graphics, pick up a few of the "Might and Magic" games while your over there (7 and 8 are my personal favs).. if you enjoy them Ubisoft is rebooting the series, with "Might and Magic X: Legacy" fairly soon...

Regarding Dark Souls:
Keep in mind that the PC version is not a "true" PC port, so it does require http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/19//? to make it work as well as it should. There's also a lot less people playing on the PC, so you can find PvP/Co-Op much more active on the consoles.
But you do get the benefit of better FPS and resolution on PC (but only with mods.)

It's also virtually impossible to play with mouse/keyboard, so you'll need a controller.

NamcoBandai has already stated that they will update the game accordingly before GWL goes offline.

Get the STALKER series and Killing Floor. Two of the easily most underrated PC exclusive games/series that are an absolute BLAST to play.

I highly recommend playing some Fallout. Go and grab the original games for cheap (and with awesome bonus content (!)) on GOG.com, and reap the benefits of amazing game enhancing mods in Fallout New Vegas.

Go ahead and get Xcom, it's totally worth it. If you're computer can handle some serious stuff, I'd also recommend grabbing ARMA 3 (if you're hardcoe) or Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon.

Seconded, the STALKER series is easily my second favorite game series of all time, right behind Metro.

You should definitely check out Torchlight II. The Steam community also has a workshop so you can download some pretty cool mods. Don't Starve is also a pretty fun game, think of Minecraft without the building and more so about actually surviving in a harsh world. There is also the Portal games which I recommend trying as well. Really fun puzzles game and sometimes it's just fun messing around with just the portals in general. Another game is Killing Floor. A pretty simple horde game which is just loads of fun.

If you do get Civ 5, try to get Brave New World with it too. It makes the end-game not so terrible compared to vanilla. And get The Witcher as well. Most people didn't like the combat but aside from that everything else about the game is good.

Other games I think you should get:

- Mount and Blade: Warband

- Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl

Civilization V is a great strategy game with some excellent expansions. Shadow Run Returns is a lot of fun with plenty of interesting characters I found myself caring about. A bit on the linear side so if your looking for something to play over and over Civilization V might be better. Also Company Of Heroes 2 is fantastic with amazing graphics and audio work on top of some heavy detailed strategic war gaming.

I definitely recommend Spec Ops: The Line. On the surface it looks like your typical shoot 'em up third person shooter, but the story, voice acting, and soundtrack is great. I got it for 7$ when it was on sale, I haven't bothered with the co-op or MP. So there's not much replay-ability IMO.

Also recommend Max Payne 3. The PC port is great.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are decent games. I prefer FO3 myself since the story has a more "cinematic" feel/atmosphere while NV felt more "game based" in terms of story content.

Would investigate it first, but I do recommend FTL: Faster Than Light. It's a decent game and helps to act as a good unwinder. Thing that keeps me going back to it from time to time is the random factor. No playthrough is identical. There are elements in it that I find lacking, but for $10 it isn't bad.
