Pricing for console versions of ESOs monthly sub-fee.
Problem:
Its doubtful that ESO will make much money off of their console versions of the game. The cost to even get to play it on console is far to great. You'd have to be semi-wealthy to be able to afford it. To play the game via console you have a number of payments to get through.
First of you must purchase an Xboxone at $550 or a Playstation 4 at $399.99. Afterwards you need to be sure you have internet to play, an average/decent connection of 15 megs can cost you about $39.99 a month. Then you need an Xboxlive Gold account or Sony for a yearly fee of up to $50 dollars. After this we have to purchase the game itself. ESO could estimate to be anywhere between $39.99 to $59.99. For 30 days we get free play but afterwards we have to pay a subscription fee of $14.99 a month (or so I've been told.).
The game is much more affordable for PC gamers in my opinion. First off most PC gamers are going to constantly keep their computer in check, updating its parts when needed or proffered by the owner. So when ESO comes out anyone in the lower-middle class might have spent about $150-$200 updating their computer in the past year. Again a minimum 15 megs will cost you about $39.99-$49.99 a month, then you have to purchase the game between $39.99-$59.99, and pay the sub fee of $14.99.
None of these prices include the cost of possible DLC updates, electric bills, or taxes.
Question(s):
Will the Xboxone or Playstation 4 versions of ESO also require the monthly subscription fee?
Wouldn't it be easier on console fans of Elder Scrolls if the fee was more like $5.99 or simply non existent?
Personal Comment:
These prices are about the most accurate that I could dig up.
I'm also looking forward to playing ESO on console but not with all these fees and payments in the way. The least Bethesda could do in my opinion is drop the price a little for sub-fees.
I don't feel that people in the lower-class society such as myself are going to be able to even afford this game generation let alone pay to play ESO. On top of that you are far better off
waiting for the game to become free to play online then actually taking the initiative to purchase it straight off the shelf or pre order it.
Perhaps even offer special deals for example those who pre order the game could get to play it free online. Paying a pre order fee is much cheaper and much easier than a monthly fee. Just speaking out loud.
