I love the idea of First Person in ESO but I HATE the fact that it is an inferior viewing angle for battles and for PvP. Fortunately there is a way this can be easily fixed with minimal UI interference by using "Hostile Intent" indicators.
A Hostile Intent indicator would make the very edge of the screen would glow a little bit in the direction that a hostile mob/player is approaching from. So if an enemy player is approaching you from behind, the very bottom of your screen would light up with a very small yellow-ish glow.
This way, even if the enemy is outside your field of vision when you are in first person mode, you would still be able react and not be forced to switch to third person view.
I like this idea because its also very easy to implement. Most games already track enemy mobs (that's how mini-maps work). The only thing that developers would have to do is add a small glow at the very edge of the screen from the direction an mob or enemy player is located (if they get close enough to trigger the Hostile Intent Indicator). Developers could use the same screen glow mechanics that happens when a character is damaged, just with a different color (so instead of a Red glow for damage, you would get a Yellow glow for Hostile Intent). It would barely require any new programing at all - its information the game already tracks and visuals the game already haves.
I really hope that ZOS implements something like that.
